Dougherty Here Abouts
by Georgia Vititow
I am sorry that I missed last
week’s news, but I had to be at
Baylor Hospital really early to be
with my sister Loretta. Things
turned out good for her, and we are
so thankful for that. The only prob-
lem is since she knows she is a!!
right she might be a little sassy, but
I guess that is okay too.
The Ruth Sunday school class
had their November fellowship at
the home of Ralph and Nancy
VanNoy in the North Shores addi-
tion. Nancy has a beautiful home,
and we had a really good time. We
had some delicious desserts and
refreshments. Some of us played
Mexican dominoes, cards, 42 and
84. We always enjoy being together.
1 know everyone had a good
Thanksgiving this year. This was
our first one without our mother or
daddy. We were all sitting around
the dinner table and there was one
empty chair left that no one sat in
and we decided that was Mother’s
place and her chair.
Raymond and Barbara Clifton
had their children home for the hol-
idays. They were J.D., Jeanie,
Lindsey and Casey Cox from
Atlanta, Steve Haupt from the
Dallas area, and Phil who lives next
door. 1 know they all enjoyed being
together.
Homer and Emma Lee Robertson
had their family on Sunday, but I
am not sure who all they had.
Weldon and Loretta Christian had
Thanksgiving at their home for all
the family to enjoy. Those attending
were Stephen, Fran, Raelynn,
Sueann and Diane Sparks, Glenda,
Julie and Jill Weddle, Jesse
McLeroy, Henry and Maxannc
Potts, Deann, Aaron and Tyson
Cooke, Joe, Lisa and Tucker
Phillips, Jeff Christian, and C.F and
me. I hope 1 didn’t forget anyone.
We had a good day.
Friday is always the day for our
big Christmas shopping spree. We
left at 6:30 a.m. and we made the
day and half the night. Some CoTuc
a little sooner than others. Those of
us going were Mistie Potts, Deann
Cooke, Maxanne Potts, Glenda
Weddle, Vivian Knight, Loretta
Christian, Fran and Sueann Sparks
and myself. We have been doing
this for many years, and we have
%uch a fun day at it.
We had our dinner Sunday with
our children. Those attending were
Raymond and Charlotte Haygood,
Bobby and Stacy Vititow, Randy,
Vivian, Josh and Danielle Knight,
Graham King, Glenda, Julie and Jill
Weddle, Karen and Mallory Gof-
ford, Brin Beaver and Dylan
Gowan. After lunch the grandkids
and I got the saw and truck and
drove over to where 1 was raised on
what is now called Ben Anglin’s
place to look for me a Christmas
tree. We hunted and hunted and
finally found one. I love to look for
Christmas trees, especially where I
was raised. I was going to show the
children some lost graves that no
one knows who was buried there
but it got dark too quickly on us.
This coming Friday will be the
stew at the historical building and
we want everyone to come and
enjoy the good food.
F.rnest and Margaret Cain spent a
few days in Dallas visiting their son
and other friends.
Bobby and Sue Medders, Rob,
Mistie and Hunter Perk Potts, and
Martha Manley spent their holiday
with Bob Sisk.
Have a good week.
