Dear Editor,
I would like to take this opportu-
nity on behalf of Boy Scout troop
393 to thank all who participated in
the WCW wrestling fundraiser ben-
efiting our troop sponsored by
Emory United Methodist Church.
It’s people like you that not only
enable us to support our troop but
set the example we strive for in
teaching our scouts.
God bless you all.

Dear Editor,
About this time each year we
hear a lot about the proper obser-
vance of Christmas. We hear
“Christmas is for kids” and other
really good sounding sayings, but is
that really Christmas? We also hear
some really silly things said about
the holiday.
Several years ago I heard the fol-
lowing story: A man was in a
department store doing some shop-
ping when he became aware that, on
a shelf in front of him, there was a
manger scene with Silent Night
playing softly. Suddenly a person
beside him exclaimed in an aggra-
vated voice, “Why do they always
try to insert religion into Christmas!
It makes me sick!”
Religion indeed! I ask you, how
in the world can we have Christmas
without Christ? Should we take
Christ out and just call it “mas”?
Should we take Christ out of
Christmas and call it Santa Gaus
Day? We already call Thanksgiving
‘Turkey Day”! If you are Christian,
Jew, Moslem, Hindu or whatever, if
you are going to observe Christmas,
you can’t leave Christ out. Let’s put
Christ first!
Sincerely
