Council opened a public far-
ing last week after recessing
Its regular meeting to consider
tlw proposed budget for Hie
fiscal year of 19H6 and die
revenue sltarlng budget lost
week.
With regard to revenue shar-
ing, moyor Allen Blair told tlie
council that present funds re-
ceived from tl* federal
government will expire by
Sept. 30, 1986, unless new
legislation Intervenes.
Blair said he received a let-
ter from Congressman Rolp
Hall discussing legislation to
revive tie government funds.
He also said that most cities
are preparing tlelr budgets
with the expiration date In
mind.

closed tlie public liearlng and
reconvened tlie regular coun-
cil meeting at which time
councilman C.L. Woodall of-
fered a motion to accept tlie
city's proposed budget and tlie
revenue sliarfng budget for
1986. Tlie motion passed
unanimously.
CRIME WATCH
In his report to tlie council;
police chief Jeff Guyton gave
an update on crime watch.
He said all crime watch in-
formation flyers are distrib-
uted and tliat all Interested
partle should begin meeting
together.
City secretary Jean Souther
said that most dubs liave
picked up crime watch signs
ordered ttrough tlie city.
"We've got our signs up," tlie
moyor sold.
"People are starting to call
now," Guyton told tie mayor.
Tlie chief reminded ttie
council of tl* fatal accident
Involving two area residents
recently. In Guyton's opinion
tlie accident was avoidable.
"A real bad accident^.lt
sltouldn't have happened," ho
said.
In referring to drunk driving
and other driving violations,
tlie chief said, "This crime
watch can be used out on
these highways just as much
as In tl*» neighborhoods."
Guyton also reminded thp
council tlxit with tlie holiday
season already In full swing,
people should use extra
caution.
"We're at our peak crime
time now. If you're going to
leave town call tne«,or let your
neighbors know you'll be
gone," Guyton said, "Tliey do
their early shopping just like
we do," he said of thieves.
Finally, ttie chief introduced
officer Shannon Buffington
from Fmory, Guyton sold Buf-
fington will assist him If tlie
council agreed. Tlie council
gave Its approval but no vote
was taken,
"1 think Sliannon will make a
good officer, and of course,
It's volunteer," Guyton said. "1
like tlie EMT (Emergency
Medical Technlclan) part of It,
too," tlie chief said.

Blair told tlie council that
building Inspector Joe Gunder-
son gave Ills resignation,
"In ttie absence of a building
Inspector I've been trying to
fill In," the mayor sold.

going on now," Blair said, "We
liave not lield up anybody,
yet."
Woodall offered to help.
The mayor said the only ap-
plication fie received comes
from a woman In tlie area,
Blair said, "Ttie job does not
require o formal education,
just common sense" and
following city codes.
After discussion about qual-
ifications, other applicants,
and needed Improvements In
the building Inspection de-
portment, Woodall suggested
tlie council table tlie matter
until ttie next meeting to give
opportunity for otlier appli-
cants' to come forward.
In referring to last month's
adjustment presented by the
Rains County Tax Appraisal
District, Blair said that Vance
Busby looked Into ttie matter.
"Ttie corrections on there
are just," Blair reported from
Busby's Investigation.
The council voted unan-
imously to approve the adjust-
ment.
In closing tlie meeting, the
mayor said, "I am proud to an-
nounce..." ttie passage of tlie
amendments regarding water
In tlie state.

& dreary with misty rain.
Everything around here is sat-
urated, Winter is just not my
favorite season.
Our chutvh attendance was
down some Sunday, quite a

the "Nutcracker" Ballet show
in Dallas Saturday, Thanks

yet, 1 think a line was left
out last week,
But, anyway, Bill's dau-
ghter in Dallas has a baby Boy,
Jesse & Trudie Tidwell had
a nice Thanksgiving Holiday,
They enjoyed dinner with
Bobby * Ida Tidwell and fam-
ilies, then had supper with
Jimmy & Betty Tidwell *
families, Friday, they accom-
panied Betty & Floyd Adair
to Caddo Mills to enjoy ano-
ther least with Trudies child-
ren, Adren * Kay Tate *
girls.
Lota A Walter Dalton had
dinner Sunday with Margaret
A. ldus Lair * family.
The church will be having
a garage sale at Point this
week, Monday thru Saturday.
Next Saturday, there will also
he a bake sale in with it.
It's next door to Joe Cason's

enjoyed the Thanksgiving
holidays in Oklahoma with
their daughter * grandchild-
ren and other relatives,

sons visiting here from down
near Houston,

church next Sat, night.
