Perhaps you sent a lovely card,
Or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a funeral spray,
If so l saw it there.
Perhaps you spoke the kindest words,
As any friend could say;
Perhaps you were not there at all,
Just thought of them that day.

Benefit Stew
Coming Soon
Do mark your calenderfor an
important fund-raiser-a good
old-time stew, cooked outside
in an old black pot. Just what
this cool weather calls for!
On Thursday, Oct. 5, sev-
eral caring citizens who are
happy to “cook out and help
out” will be found early in the
morning at the Rose Com-
munity Center preparing a
stew and pie luncheon for all
who would like to share in a
good meal-and a good cause.
The stew ingredients will
hopefully be donated by other
caring people-as will the pies
and cakes, coffee and tea. The
tickets for the meal will be only
$3.50, and a full house is ex-
pected between the hours of 11
a.m. and 2 p.m.
Proceeds from this fund-
raiser will be used to provide a
better Christmas for Rains
County’s needy children.
