DIVISION CHAIRMEN ENJOY BREAKFAST-Mrs. Rubye McKeown, president of the
Creative Arts Division of the Rains County Fair, conducted a meeting of the 18 division chairmen
that were present over breakfast at Bell’s Cafe on Friday, Aug. 25th. Mrs. McKeown gave a finan-
cial report and briefed the group on any changes made in the rules. Shirley Humphrey reminded
everyone that they must have a pass to get in this year even if you work. Your leader will have
passes and will have to work the schedule out with her workers in order for the workers to have a
pass on the night they work. No children will be admitted free with working parents. Those pres-
ent for the breakfast were (not in order) Billye Kovar, Nan Satterwhite, Rica Kellam, Boots
Hooten, Shirley Humphrey, Vickie Wade, Betty Edmonds, Sally Fletcher, Marie Sawatzky, Betty

arts exhibits at fairs, and this
will get a good pool of judges
for die events. Three work-
shops will be presented: Baked
Goods, Horticulture, and Food

County Agent Neinast
reported that many of the ma-
jor hog and lamb shows are
now requiring the animals to
be validated before the show.
They will have to be ear tagged
and tattooed. Ear tags will cost
$2.50 each, and you can tag as
many as you want for all

Denita also commented on
what a good job Dale Otto and
his family did with the sound
system last year. They were
there every night to set it up
and make sure everything went
well.
The association voted to
give Dale Otto $150. for set-
ting up the P.A. system every
night.
Howard Emig reported that
he had all the gate workers
lined up. Willie Harrison made
the comment that every year
they have problems with peo-
ple not wanting to pay to get
in, when they have to work in a
booth. David stated that every
booth is given passes that are to
be used for their workers.
They are to be exchanged be-
tween the workers. Kenneth
suggested that we remind each
organization that they need to
tell their workers that they do
have to pay to get in the gate,
unless they have a pass.
Kenneth reported that Mar-
jean Stotts, who is the junior
class sponsor at Rains High
School, asked him and David
about having a booth, where
they throw pies made of shav-
ing cream at people. Discus-
sion was held on this idea. Rob
Killingsworth made a motion
not to allow pie throwing, but
be Open to other ideas, and the
Fair Association would get
15% of the proceeds, as it does
from the other booths. The mo-
tion carried.
Meeting adjourned.
