An Alba man was being held
In the Dallas County jail
without bond over the
weekend, awaiting
arraignment on federal drug
conspiracy charges.
According to State narcotic
agents, Richard Poul "Buddy"
Hass", 35 year-old Alba
native Is the reputed
ringleader of a trl-state
multi-million dollar drug
distribution ring.
Last week's orrest of Hass
and three others climaxed
14-month Investigation by
the Texas Department of
Public Safety narcotics
agents, Wood County
authorities and law
enforcement officials In
Dallas, Lake Cherokee, and
Perryvllle (oil In Texas) and
officers In Oklahoma and
Arkansas,
Shortly after Hass' arrest, February 6,1986-Poge
Wood County officers moved n» ■
In and seized on amphetamine
lab equipped with enough
chemlcols to manufacture
about 100 pounds of
amphetamine with a street
value of $4,5 million.
The lab was found In a barn
about a mile west of Mlneola
on property belonging to Loyd
Topley, This 46-year old was
charged with aggravated
manufacture of
amphetamines and released
after posting a $25,000.00
bond In Wood County,
When the three men were
arrested In Dallas, some three
pounds of pure amphetamine,
worth an estimated
$681,000,00 was seized.

In other states when the
Investigation Is completed. He
Is well known In this orea,
however, according to the
Rains County Sheriff's
deportment, he has no
criminal record In this county.
It Is said that Hass is one of

type store on Hwy 17 north of
Alba. It Is 'known' that he
recently purchased a house In
the Bear Creek Edition on
Hwy 69 east of Emory, Thot

Maxine Juttner is much
better.
Inez Ivy was in Tulsa,
Okla. last weekend with
sick relatives.

and Henry Garmon III were
in Dekalb Sunday.
George A Brenda Right
were in Dallas Sat. night
to attend Robert's wed-
ding, He is the brother of
George.
Bro. Harry Bail was
visiting at the Baptist
Church on Sunday. They had
a good attendance.
Cody A Oleta Garrett
went to Mineola Sunday af-
ter church to visit their
children.
Qleta'r Martha Class had
16 out of 18 in attendance
on Sunday.
Gertrude Hughey and I
went up to Mary's Saturday
and took Mexican food. She
really did enjoy it so
much. And, of course, we
were so happy that she did
enjoy it. She went to the
table and ate with us.
How about this beautiful

little garden plants were
really looking up this
morning. They have out
onions and cabbage and
planted their English
peas.
