We are so glad of having
our nice weather, but il
must change or people will
need to water their gar-
dens. If we could have
rain without the cold
cloudy weather, it would
be almost perfect.
fthel Alexander is re-
newing her LEADfR sub-
scription. Said at first
she didn't plan to renew
it on account of her eyes,
but decided to renew, even
if she couldn't read much
more than the "headlines."
She had an appointment at
Tyler, to see an eye doc-
tor, so maybe tie can help
her eyes so she ran see
better. We hope so.
Norma lee How in is get-
ting a renewal to the
LEADER for her birthday,
Saturday, fet>. 8th.
Gena Schrimsher had her
89th birthday Thursday,
Jan. 30th. her son, Bob
Schrimsher'a birthday was
on the same day. tie and
George Kennemer and Alta
Martin were with them for
dinner. In the evening tor
nigtit), Jeffrey Vaught, W.
0., Norma lee, and Rus-
sel 11 Oowin were there. I
went with them. Her daugh-
ter, Dollie Baker, called
her from Colorado Springs,
Colo. Her other daughter
Alene Meyers and husband
C. B. and their grand-
daughter Shelly were with
them at dinner also.
Ethel Alexander had her
girls from Greenville, thp
Claude Penningtons and
Lewis Nelsons, and I . C.
Ballard, also G. B. and
Bennie Alexander were
there with them. The next
night lee and lavima
Alexander visited with
her.
A line was left out of
my last write-up, omitting
the G. B. Alexanders, who
had visited fthpl on Sun.
nigtit. That made si* of
her children whom stie saw
at that time.
Alene Northcutt is back
at tiome after having been
in the Greenville hospit-
al. She is still very
weak. Her heart was her
trouble. Glad shp is able
to be at home again.
Our nephew, Lonnie
loles, Jr. of Cpdar Creek
Lake, did come to see us
last week. He took me to
the cafe for lunch. We
visited with Edward A Ann
Toles, also Ethel Alexan-
der, while he was here. He
is to go back for a
check-up in about three
weeks. The doctor said
they got about 90 percent,
and if his cancer isn't
doing OK, they will have
to do something with his
jaw bone. Sure hope it's
(ik.
I've waited to hear more
about Connie Bane and her
brother, Speed Malone.
However, the latest news
I've heard isn't good.
They are both real criti-
cal. Connie ir jo Presby-
terian at Dallas. Speed is
lr Mineola hospital, or
was the last I knew.
Timer A Marie Perkins of
Dallas came down to see
her mother, Fthel Alexan-
der, on Sunday.
Harmon A Dorothy Kenne-
mpr of Garland were with
me for supper on Saturday
night. I enjoyed having
them. Since Dorothy's work
requires tier to work on
SAturdays, they don't, come
down often. Norma l ee has
to work on Saturday also
and I don’t see her but
once a week - on Sunday -
when she comes to fill my
insulin needles. I'm
thankful, however, for the
times I do see them.
Steve Coats and Jimmy
Taylor made a garden next
to my yard, on the south.
He has a good fence be-
tween me arid the garden,
however. I told him to put
a gate from my yard to the
garden as 1 won't be able
to "straddle" the fence.
Don't think he will do it

though. Maybe I can aet my
little garden strip fin my
yard) fixed up before it's
too late to plant peas. My
onions don't ever do any
good, so pull them early.
I like them that way.
We were sorry about the
death of Odie Fatheree.
She had been ill for many
months, but even when she
hardly seemed able to get
about, she would attend
the Willow Springs reun-
ion. Seemed to have the
courage not to quit. Our
sympathy goes to the loved
ones who are left behind.
Flossie Ingram and John-
nie, let us hear from you
now and then. My 1 FADER
letters ore to you all who
live away, but unless we
hear from you, can't tell
about bow you are doing.
As long as I do my write--
up, I am answering your
past letters, so do expect
In hear from you now arid
then. That is a main rea-
son for my lEADER "write-
up" to let you hear from
us. How about it, Dollie
and Fern7 Expect to hear
from you too. A number of
others are included in
"who wrote last." Ha'
I've gotten to the
place where I can't write
well - only at times. I
know it's not easy for the
transcribers to make out
all my words. Sometimes,
when I re-read it, I find
that I've failed to put in
all the words, or have too
many in some of them,
which I try to crowd in,
or mark out, if I have too
many. You can know by
that, that I'm slipping,.
! had a notice last week
from FHA about my loan
from them and said my
taxes were due on Jan.
31st. So far I have re-
ceived no notice of time
or amount due, or where to
pay them. I know we have
the new "appraisers"
building, but have always
received "notices" before,
90 can't tell just how it
goes. Someone let me know.
What about you, Kat or
Betty7 Ju9t put an an-
nouncement in the LEADfR.
I may not be the only one
who fails to know wtiat to
do about it. I'll pay
when I'm notified how
much, where and when. I'll
appreciate knowing.
Mr. A Mr9. Melvin John-
son of Dallas, Dora'9 bro-
ther, also Barbara Luckett
and son Billy were visi-
tors to Audra and Dora
Adair last Sunday.
Visitors to the Otto
Robertsons Sunday were k.
P. and Evelyn Knight from
near Tawakoni, if I remem-
ber correctly, also their
daughter Joan and husband,
Ray Pound, from Garland.
Norma did get up here to
fill my needles and
brought me two trays of
food. The one I had for
supper was good. I wonder
why we always like the
other person's cooking
better than our own.
Dorothy brought pear
cobbler Saturday. I liked
it better than my own too.
Thanks to kat Becknell
for her donation to
"Widow'9 Mite," which our
S.S. class started in
honor of Irlue Doyal. It
is used for various things
to improve the church -
rugs for 9tep9, cabinets
in foyer, and other
things. We think it serves
a very good purpose.
Though our class started
it, we have "donations"
from people all over the
church, and appreciate
them "all."
We regret the death of
Addie Davis. She died Sun-
day. Funeral preparations
are pendinq, She had a
daughter in California who
will have to have time to
get here. Our sympathy
goes to her loved ones.
We are getting rain thi9
Monday morning. I have my
rain gauge turned upside
down for fear I would for-
get to empty it and it
would free/e and burst.
