THE EGG TOSS was fun but messy, though the little ones
tossed the eggs much more gently than the older participants.

GETTING UP while back to back with your arms locked toge-
ther was no problem for the older children (top photo) but the Tit-
tle ones had a harder time, as these two can testify.

Neat, peat, we are be-
ginning to harvest some
of our garden. As I have
told you before we had
lots of lettuce and rad-
ishes. But today I picked
half a bushel of
broccoli. That was fun. I
have never seen broccoli
or cauliflower grow. 1
also picked half a bushel
of greens and five cauli-
flower as large as the
ones 1 buy at the store.
Our brussel sprouts are
just beginning to have
little buds on them. It.
will be fun to watch them
grow also.
I spent all morning
making hanging baskets.
I also planted a coral
honeysuckle plus another
pink dogwood.
The herbs are beginning
to look good. The parsley
is large enough to eat
and I am going to try
some of it. We like fresh
parsley in potato soup.
The chives are ready to
cut and use. We have dill
running out of our ears.
I put fresh dill on
cucumber sandwiches. May-
be we'll have enough cu-
cumbers that I can try to
make dill pickles.
Our sage isn't growing
os fast as the other
herbs. One of our favor-
ites is cilantro. We also
have caraway and summer
savory. This savory is a
new herb for me but, 1 am
going to try it. It is
said to be a peppery
herb, used in eggs, soups
and vegetables. We also
have lots of basil and of
course cherry tomatoes ,
which I had a hard time
getting Bob to plant. He
wanted all large
tomatoes. I have differ-
ent typeS of peppers so
I'll have a lot of herbs
to dry. Hope it all works
out.
Bob is getting the
pasture fertilized this
afternoon. Have to make
hay while the sun shines.
1 have always heard that
saying but, really didn't
know what it meant till
now. Cut, plant and fer-
tilize everything in .be-
tween the rains.
Don't forget to smell
the wild flowers.

elimination tournament were (top photo) Lillard & Greg Mays,
Grand Champions, (middle photo) Karen & Gary Mays, 2nd
place; (bottom photo) Claude Ray & Brad Joiner, 3rd place.
Claude is pointing to where the president of the Emory Chamber
of Commerce Susie Joiner, who apparently broke under the stress
or stayed out in the sun too long, began egging the contestants,
hitting Claude in the head with a raw egg.
