CONVENTION DATES SET FOR
FEBRUARY 26 AND 27 IN LLANO
Since there has been much contro-
versy regarding the date for the 1929
Convention of the Memorial Crafts-
men of Texas, Secretary Fritz Oehler
of San Antonio has written the News
that the meeting would be held in
February, as was origionally planned.
Following is Mr. Oehler’ letter:
San Antonio, Tex., Jan. 7, 1929
The Llano News,
ot the Cassaday Grey Granite Com-
pany, F. W. Hudson, manager of the
Sherman Steam Marble and Granite
Wotlcs, had the following to say con-
cerning his late friend, A. P. Churn-
berlain of Deuison:
“Our old friend, Mr. A. P. Chamber-
lain, of Denison, passed out a few
weeks ago. He had gone to South
Texas to see if it would help him, but
he never even reached the place Llano, Texas,
where he intended to spend some- Gentlemen:
i time. We laid him away in the Den-
ison emetery, .among a lot of the
work that he had erected in Hte long
years of his business there.
Mr. Chamberlain was really a fine
man, honest and straightforward in
all hisTlealings. We had been person-
al friends for a long time. His busi-
ness will be for sale, and that is a I
very nice place for a good, small
shop. He turned it all over to me
before he left to handle for him, but
1 did not get to going before he pass-
ed away. His son. came up front Fort i
Worth (o look after his mother’s bus-:
iness, and I turned It back to them. I
as 1 (lit! not have the time to look j
after it. and only agreed to for Mr.
, , . , . . , idat.es tor the 1930 gathering.

In rejfly to your communication
wish to say that our Convention dates
for tho State of Texas have been set
as per instruction from our Executive
Secretary, Mr. Lester E. Harris of
the .Memorial Craftsmen of America.
Our convention will be held at Llano
Texas, February 20th and 27th.
There had been some opposiition in
setting these dates in February, ow-
ing to the uncertainty of the Febru-
i ary weather. Since our State covers
I such a large area it might be difficult
for some of the members of the As-
sociation to attend. No doubt this
matter will be discussed to a satisfac-
tory end in setting our Convention
It is to
be regretted that this matter was not
fully discussed during our 1928 gath-
] ering, for all must understand that to
of this kind

Read what these lead-
ing automobile editors
said after seeing and
riding in the new
Chevrolet Six—
“In appearance, perform-
ance and mechanical nicety
the new Chevrolet Six pre-
sents actual values far be-
yond its price range.”
— Hazen Conklin
Acw York World
"Aside from beauty in body
lines and attractiveness in
finish, the astounding fea-
ture of the new Chevrolet
Six is its powerful and
flexible motor. One will
have to go far to equal the
high performance of this
new Chevrolet in general
road and traffic use.”
—Leon J. Pinkson
San Francisco Chronicle
“The new Chevrolet is a
triumph for volume pro-
duction. The car at its price
is one of the greatest
achievements ever recorded
in the automobile industry.
Its beauty is a treat; its
riding comfort a new delight
and its performance a real
sensation.”
—Ray Priest
“St Louis mot or dom is
tremendously enthused over
the new Clievrolet Si*.
Personally I have never
seen the public so interested
in a new car. The factory
should be congratulated on
the truly monumental en-
gineering feat it has
accomplished."

J 1 understand that the National As
1 soeialion has some very interesting
educational matter to submit at this
Convention, and it is my sincere hope
that there will be a large attendance
to take advantage of this, and derive
intormation that will be of great val-
ue to them in conducting their vari- 1
ous plants to the extend that they
will not only he benefltted financially,
j but also be in position to render a
greater service to their patrons that I

The Memorial art of recent years
advanced in a degree in keeping with I
the strides made by other industries.
Our awakening and realization of this
fact should tend to bring to our Con-
tention all those who are interested
in this true progress of our industry.
Through the National Association
the Memorial Crafts News special
edition, will have some Interesting
data that should he of great value.
An enthusiastic rally is needed, and
with the help of Mr. Lester E .Harris,
Executive Secretary, and others, feel
that our annual gathering will be of
great interest and help to us all.
