Larceny-Theft
Larceny-theft is the unlawful
taking, carrying, leading or rid-
ing away of property from the
possession or constructive pos-
session of another. Larceny-theft
includes crimes such as shop-
lifting, pocket-picking, purse-
snatching, thefts from motor
vehicles, thefts of motor vehicle
parts and accessories, bicycle
thefts and other things of value
in which no force, violence or
fraud occurs.
The estimated number of thefts
committed in Texas in 2005 was
676,022, making this the larg-
est crime category of the index
crimes. The volume of thefts in
2005 decreased 2.9 percent from
2004. More thefts were com-
mitted in Texas in August than
any other month, while the few-
est thefts were committed dur-
ing February. It is reasonable
to expect that many offenses in
this category, particularly where
the value of goods stolen is
small, are never reported to law
enforcement.
The 2005 theft rate for Texas
was 2,957.2 thefts for every
100,000 persons. The change in
the theft rate from 2004 was a
decrease of 4.5 percent.

Sally and Edie Campbell are
our new neighbors from Plano.
They come down on some week-
ends and plan to build a house on
a five-aere spot of land that Ona
Mae Spence did own. I stopped
and invited them to Elm Baptist
Church and also to have lunch
with us. Everyone will love them.
They were so very nice. They
only have three little dogs. They
will fit right in here at Elm.
Elm Church has received $425
in memory of Leon Asbill. Elm
Cemetery has gotten $75, also in
memory of him. The cemetery
also received $50 given in mem-
ory of Ruth Abercrombie. We
appreciate each and everyone and
the love shown to each church
family and cemetery.
Our volleyball girls won their
games Friday night and Saturday.
The football boys came alive the
last half of their game and won
their first district game. Those
boys and coaches are the best.
Dorothy Crabb and Thurman
Asbill were sick Sunday, so we
missed them at church. Carla
Thompson was absent. I always
miss her too.
Sorry that we missed some
people, and they did not hear that
Leon Asbill had passed away.
We did have lots of phone calls
to make and other things to do.
Please forgive us; it is hard to
remember everyone during a time
of sorrow.
I got tny yard mowed. It is
so very dry and dusty, so I get
a headache. Maybe it will frost
soon.
Hilda’s back is really hurting
her. Her surgery will be December
7 at Presbyterian in Dallas.
Please put Friday, Oct. 27, and
Saturday, Oct. 28, down so you
can come to the Elm Community
garage sale. Things will be cheap
but nice. Yes, we will have it
at Elm Baptist Church, rain or
shine.
Church and lunch were very
good Sunday. A young man from
Minebla joined Elm Church.
There were also some other visi-
tors from Yantis. All of our truck
drivers were at church. We are
happy when they don’t have to
work on the weekends.
My heart skipped from the top
and bottom pumping chambers
when I had the holster monitor
on for 24 hours, but no dangerous
pattern. I am in a low risk group
to have a heart attack in the near
future.
Eva Parkman has been sick.
Vickie has spent several days
with her.
Hope you have a great week.
