several requests for public hear-
ings by the Cross Timbers Con-
cerned Citizens have been drop-
ped recently on applicants in
Erath and Hamilton Counties.

Agency (EPA) regulations at a
public meeting on Aug. 21 in San
Antonio.

Home schooling offers alternative

Like other children in the area,
the Veldhuizen children

big difference. They don’t leave
home.
Along with a growing number
of other families in the Stephen-
ville/Dublin area, Stuart and Con-
nie Veldhuizen, local dairy pro-
ducers, have chosen to home-
school their children. Three of
their five children are being
home-schooled this year, Rachel,
8; Chelsey, 6; and Joshua, 5.
“We chose to home-school
because we want Christian values
to be a part of our children’s
learning process,” Connie said.
“The schools have taken God out
of everything. But, He is part of
eveiything that wc teach including
reading, math and science.”

DAIRY BREAK 1992
Eveybody is welcome to Dairy Break 1992, Sept. 18 and 19.
Spectators can enjoy the Dutch-Tex Soccer Championship that
includes two East Texas teams and one Stephenville Team. A Free
Barbecue Supper, Dutch games, and live music provided by
DeWiko’s, a band from the Netherlands will be part of the
activities. The party will be held at KlausTatsma’s hay meadow.
