Pfc. Emma Nell Adams
Likes Service In WAC
Mr. and Mrs. Albert L. Ad-
ams have received a letter from
their daughter Pfc. Emma Nell
Adams a member of the VAC
who is serving in England.
In writing of her crossing
Efc. Adams said "On the way
over the Red Cross was wonder-
ful serving us hot coffee and
doughnuts and furnishing us
kit containing everything from
nail file to needles. The sea
as wonderful . . . never the
same color nor in the same
mood. ... I will always see the
Atlantic in my mind's eye."
Of her arrival in England she
writes "I have always wanted
to see this country. It is like a
dream come true.- There are
dark woods ""green glens pur-
ple flowers swaying in the wind
golden corse and (censored).
The houses are all quaint
all quaint ana
pretty. The people are reserved
and courteous. My three room-
mates and I walked -to a village
and enjoyed the scenery. The
town folk returned our smiles
Our barracks are even better
than our Field Barracks in the
Station. There are four girls
to a room two dressers with
good mirrors. The food is excel-
lent. I am now in my "billet"
(ib'arracks) sitting on my bunk
on a good mattress (biscuits)
. . . I've changed by money into
English currency. Three ipence
florins pounds shillings and a
ten shilling note is about 2.00
or one-half pound.- I am going
to send some home soon."
Pfc. Adams formerly lived in
Bartlett and "is a graduate of
the local High School.
