Justice in Rains County:
You may have heard it said:
“Justice is bjind." 1 submit, how-
ever, that justice has selective
vision in Rains County.
On Saturday, March 3, a so-
called sworn peace officer shot
my dog. It was self-defense, I’m
sure(!) She’s not a pit bull or
even a rottweiler. SheY a year-
old lab. Sleeps in bed with me
(or did).
I’m told he denies this, which
figures. Most of his ilk are bul-
lies and cowards unless there’s
that badge and pistol on their
hips.
Now, this was reported in
detail to all the appropriate
authorities, up to and including
the D.A. It has been a month
plus, and I am told nothing will
be done. You see, animal cruelty
is a felony in Texas, and it would
never do for an officer of the law
and a merchant of this fine
county to have to face up to it.
1 question whether the citizen-
ry of Rains County can sleep
soundly with a guy with this
rage problem deputized. Might
he not shoot a teenager who toi-
let-papers his yard?
Meantime, Bobo won’t ever
be quite right, even after $2,000
of vet care.
Thomas H. Nelson, M.D.
Capt. US Army, Ret.

P.S. 1 would welcome a call
from the concerned lady or
ladies who witnessed this turkey
threatening me last summer.
“R-E-S-P-E-C-T”
Well, once again I've got to
thank the Rains County Leaded.
Ever since they've been printing
my articles. I’ve been getting
something here and it .seems
everywhere. Something 1 be-
lieve is long over due! Some
RESPECT, as Aretha Franklin
says.
Now, for all of you who don’t
think very much of me, this is
going to rock your world, and I.
have to thank the Big §uy up
above. I was contacted and ac-
cepted a place and job title as
fundraiser tor Senator Barack
Obama's campaign. You read it
right! When he comes to Texas,
I'll be rubbing shoulders with
real power, and there’s at least a
50-50 chance that he’ll be the
first African-American presi-
dent of the United States.
I’ll say this right now, looking
at it from every way, it’ll be him
or Hillary Clinton deciding
who’s going to be president and
who’s going to be the vice-pres-
ident. Now on that l’m 100 per-
cent sure it’ll be that way.
Either way, history is going to
surely be made. Again, remem-
ber the Super Bowl. It's about
time!
Now.he totally knows what to
expect, because he let me and 60
Minutes know when asked about
what happened to JFK. His wife
also made a very good point.
You can get shot while getting
gas in today's world. But one
thing I know for a fact, if you've
got the Big Guy up above, noth-
ing will happen if he does not
want it to happen.
I’ve already let it be known
that when elected, 1 want a job
title and place on his staff. You
know, 1 have always wondered
why 1 have been given so much
trouble, even while in a wheel-
chair. Now God is opening up
windows, where doors have
been closed. Amen!
