Vtfrant Fight takes off In Ssptombsr
Erath County Veterans Inc will be hosting the Cowboy
Capital Veteran's Flight hot air balloon festival an Sept 23-25
at Super C Lake (3463 CR 373, Dublin). The event will feature
lots of hot air balloons, Hve music, vendors, balloon glows at
dusk and balloon races during the day.
All proceeds will benefit Erath County Veterans.

Legion needs help with names
Veterans’ Day is fast approaching and that’s the time the
Dublin American Legion adds names each year to the local
memorial on Highway 6, next to the library.
If you have names of any service man or woman who has
lived at one time in the Dublin zip code, they are eligible to
be included Please submit that name to Darlene West, 801
Pony Express Lane, DeLeon, TX. 76444.
Donations are also needed to help with the engraving of
those names, in addition to having a special market put in
place to recognize those who helped make the memorial a
reality. Send those donations to Darlene at the above

Ministry sets “Anti-freeze” event
World Ministry Outreach of Stephenville is currently
collecting coats, sweaters and blankets for a “Anti-Freeze”
Giveaway scheduled Saturday, November 5 at the church.
According to Pastor Travis Priddy, this is an endeavor to
reach out and help area residents stay a little wanner this
winter.
Anyone that would like to donate good, dean items may
call Pastor Travis at 254-352-0378 to schedule pickup.

VFW serving meals and meetings
Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9181 (810 Airport Road
in Stephenville) will be serving meals throughout September.
On Sept. 9 from 5 pm-8 pm, they will be serving sausage
on a bun for $2.50 and bowls at pinto beans, files and iced
tea for $1 each.
The VFW hosts PTSD group meeting every tuesday at 4
p.m., DAV. meetings every third Tuesday at 5 pm and
regular VFW meetings every 4th Monday at 7 pm
Quilt Guild to meet Saturday
The Town ‘N Country Quilt Guild will meet from 1 pm to
3 pm on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Citibank Community
Room. The scheduled program is Bible Quilts- Life is a
Patchwork. Everyone interest in quilting is invited to attend.
MTGCD to hold budget/tax meeting today
The Middle Trinity will hold a meeting to adopt the 2012
budget and tax rate on Thursday, Sept. 1, at their Stephenville
office (930 Wolfe Nursery Rd.). The meeting will immediately
follow their regular 1 pm permit hearing and board
meeting in which they will discuss the budget and tax rate,
as well as hear a presentation from Mountain Lakes.
Lilly G hosting Stallion Showcase
On Saturday, Sept. 17, lolly G Ranch will be host to the
2011 lolly G. Stallion Showcase. Lilly G Ranch is located 8
miles N. of Dublin on FM 219. There will be Stallions from
around the state coming to exhibit to the public. The
Stallions on exhibit are some of the finest bred horses, with
pedigrees with earning in the millions ($). The purpose for
this event is to promote the horse industry during trying
times.
Lone Star Iris Society hosts plant sale
The Ixtne Star Iris Society will host it's annual iris and plant
sale in 1 lico, Saturday, Sept. 3,9 am 2 pm or until sold out.
The sale location will be in Hico, at the rock building .2 miles
north of the Stop Light on Huy 281, east side of the highway
next to Cody’s Trading.
There will be many varieties of irises for sale, as well as other
plants and members will be available to answer questions.

Memorial blood drive set for Stephenville
The Melvin Kinsey Memorial Blood Drive will be held
Saturday, Sept. 10 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stephenville
Masonic Lodge #267 to support The Texas Scottish Rite
Hospital for Children.
Free breakfast will be served for donors beginning about
7:30 a.m. Please come join us for breakfast and help us
help the kids.

Greens Creek Methodist
serving up music, pie
Come to Greens Creek Methodist Church on Sunday
afternoon, Sept. 4 for a musical gathering and pie tasting.
Hopefully the temperatures will be tolerable for this
event to be held under the tabernacle.
The tabernacle Is shaded beautifully by the abundant
post oaks, so musicians are invited to be on hand for
some good pickin’ to be followed by generous servings of
homemade pies. The music will begin at 2 p.m.
Members of the congregation are practicing the pie
making for the contest on Oct. 1 sponsored by the rodeo
museum. The Greens Creek community is known for its
good cooks, so this will be a treat.
Greens Creek Methodist Church is at the comer of
County Roads 242 and 381-pavement all the way. The
fun will begin at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4 at the Greens
Creek Methodist tabernacle.
