Ethel Fincher
Ethel Fincher passed away Friday, July 12,2013
at her home in Ennis, Texas. She had reached the
age of 90 years.
Ethel was born April 19, 1923 in Ennis, Texas
to Ellis and Mamie (Phillips) Walker. She grew up
in Ennis and attended Ennis schools.
On October 25,1940 she was married to Grady
L. Fincher. She and her husband spent their en-
tire lives in Ennis. Ethel loved fish-
ing and gardening in her spare
time. She was employed by Storey
Manufacturing of Ennis and re-
tired in 1970.
She is survived by two sons: Ken-
neth Wayne Fincher, and his wife,
Donna Kay and Larry Fincher, and
his wife, Ann, all of Ennis; two sis-
ters: Vivian Hume, of Dallas and
Emma Vines, also of Dallas; five grandchildren
and nine great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 14, 2013
from 4 to 6 p.m. at the J. E. Keever Mortuary of
Ennis. A Graveside service was held on Monday,
July 15, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Myrtle Cemetery with
Rev. Kenneth Cashion officiating, under the di-
rection of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memori-
als to the Veterans Memorial Committee.

Kathryn (Kat) Autrey
Kathryn (Kat) Autrey, age 86, passed away in
Ennis on July 14, 2013. She was born on January
5,1927 in Teague, Texas to James and Bertha Mae
(Edwards) Phelps.
She is survived by her daughter, Leona Nunn
and her husband Michael of Palmer; five grand-
children, nine great grandchildren
and one great, great grandchild;
two sisters, Nell Land of Palmer,
Patsy McElhaney and her husband
Jimmy of Palmer; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
Kat is preceded in death by her
parents, first husband, Cecil Cot-
tongame; second husband, Amos
Autrey; daughter, Patsy Kay Cot-
tongame; three sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 P.M. on
Wednesday, July 17,2013 at the Fundamental Bap-
tist Church in Palmer with the funeral services
beginning at 2:00 P.M.
Interment will follow at the Palmer Cemetery.

James W. Wilhoite
James W. Wilhoite, 76, passed away in Ennis,
Texas on Sunday, July 14, 2013.
James was born in Ennis, Texas on January 8,
1937 to O.D. and Ethel (Lewis) Wilhoite He grew up
in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School
in 1955. He went on to attend Navarro College. On
December 19, 1958 he married Barbara Wooten
and they have been lifetime residents of Ennis. He
served his country proudly in the United States
Army in Germany from 1956 until 1958.
He worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad for
nine years as a Fireman, for American National
Insurance for over twenty years as an agent and
served as the Veterans Administra-
tion Service Officer for Ellis County
from 1987 until 2012. He was a mem-
ber of Tabernacle Baptist Church
of Ennis, VFW and the Ennis
Jaycees. He enjoyed golf and all
sports, especially those in and
around Ennis.
He is survived by his wife of al-
most fifty-five years, Barbara Wil-
hoite of Ennis; son, Tony Wilhoite and his wife,
Teresa of Ennis; one daughter, Teresa and her
husband Dan McCarthy of Waxahachie; five
grandchildren: Hillary and Scott Laza, Drew and
Christina Wilhoite, Jeremy and Tiffany Novotny,
Trevor Wilhoite and Tori Wilhoite; two great-
grandchildren: Hannah and Brady Laza along
with one sister, Iva Dee Collins of Ennis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, five
brothers, two sisters and his father-in-law Marvin
(Bud) Wooten.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 16,2013 from
6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of
Ennis. A Celebration of his life will be held on
Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11 a.m. in the Taber-
nacle Baptist Church of Ennis located at 1200
Country Club Road, Ennis with Rev. Todd Gray
and Rev. Richard Moody officiating. Pallbearers
will be: Harvey Collins, Homer Edward Doherty,
James Allen, Joey Wilhoite Brian Wilhoite and
Randy Wilhoite. Interment will follow in Myrtle
Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mor-
tuary, Inc.

Chess, ASL classes offered
Signing and Chess classes are being offered at
the Ennis Public Library every week on Monday
and Thursday. All ages and all levels of partici-
pants are welcome to the free classes.
The Signing class is held Mondays from 4 - 5:30
p.m. in the Learning Center. Students in the past
have ranged from 7 to 92 years old. The two in-
structors have taught students that have gone on
to sign at churches, Lion’s Club, for individuals,
etc.
Chess class is Thursday from 5 - 7:30 p.m. in the
Learning Center. Participants will be playing
Chess on one of 16 boards as the two instructors
give one-on-one assistance.

Volunteers needed to aid nursing
home residents
The North Central Texas Council of Govern-
ments’ Area Agency on Aging is looking for vol-
unteers to help residents of nursing homes in
Ennis, Italy, Red Oak and Waxahachie.

Flags for sale
The Ennis Rotary Club is selling flags to be put
in your front yard five different times throughout
the year for five different holidays and the best
part is, they’re going to install them. For $30 the
Ennis Rotary Club will provide a flag to help par-
ticipants show their patriotism at Memorial Day,
Flag Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and Vet-

Dominoes groups, both 64 and 42 players, meet
Monday through Thursday.
The center will pick up anyone those needing a

Navarro County Depression and
Bipolar Support
Navarro County Depression and Bipolar Sup-
port Alliance meets at 7 p.m. each Tuesday in the
fellowship hall at St. John’s Episcopal Church, lo-
cated at 101 N. 14th St. in Corsicana.
All are welcome to learn to give and receive sup-
port at the weekly meetings. On the first Tuesday
of the month, Dr. Tom Sheriff, licensed psycholo-
gist, conducts a study of The Depression and
Manic Depression Workbook: A Guide for Living
with Depression and Manic Depression.

Hospice volunteers needed
Family First Hospice is looking for people with
free time to sit with loved ones of families that use
the hospice service. Families need volunteers to
help care for their loved one by sitting with them
or talking to them while the caregiver runs er-

Gentry have set up a memorial opportunity for
those who would like to remember him. Donations

Big Brothers Big Sisters, in partnership with
EISD, are here in Ellis County to serve as mentors
for children. There are a large number of children
