Koenig - Green pledge vows

Mr. and Mrs.Chad Green
nee Brooke Koenig
Brooke Koenig and Chad
Green were united in marriage
at St. James Lutheran Church
in Ganado on Feb. 19, 2011.
The Rev. Chris Heinold per-
formed the double ring cere-
mony.
The bride is the daughter of
Randy and Doris Piwonka
and Dale Koenig and Brenda
Cmme, all of Louise. She is
the granddaughter of Robert
and Olive Koenig of Louise,
Carolyn Molina, and Walter
and Shirley Slezinsky, all of
El Campo and the late Frankie
and Dorothy Chovanec.
Brooke graduated from
Louise High School in 2004
and Wharton County Junior
College in 2006 with a cosme-
tology degree. She is self-
employed in Ganado.
The groom is the son of
Howard and Sandra Green of
Ganado. He is the grandson of
Laura Noska of El Campo,
Lee and Virginia Hamons of
Ganado and the late Wanda
Green. Chad graduated from
Ganado High School in 1998.
He is employed by Energy
Contract Services in Watford
City, N.D.
Wedding music was provid-
ed by organist Paulette
McElveen.
The couple’s wedding col-
ors were peacock blue, silver
and a touch of fuchsia.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride was lovely in
a white A-line satin gown by
Mary’s with romantic embel-
lished cap sleeves featuring an
appliqued skirt with chapel-
length train. Her bodice was
accented with crystals beads
and sequins.
On her hair she wore an fin-
gertip-length veil with scal-
loped lace and iridescent
sequin accents.
She carried a nosegay-style
bouquet of yellow roses and
pink stargazer lilies.

Zechariah Slade Sembera
Derek Sembera and Vangie
Samuel are parents of a son,
Zechariah Slade Sembera,
who was born at 8:02 a.m. on
Jan. 26, 2011 at Cuero
Community Hospital in
Cuero.
The new arrival weighed 7
pounds, 11 ounces and meas-
ured 19 inches in length.
He was welcomed home
by big sisters Halimarie and
Hanna.
Grandparents are Sheryl
Boldt of Yorktown, Miron
Sembera of Corpus Christi,
and Janie Morales, Ruben
Morales and Alfred Muniz,
all of Cuero.
Great-grandparents are
Robert and Shirley
Tumlinson of Lolita.
Great-great-grandmother is
Ovella Tumlinson of
Harwood.
Maid of honor was Sumer
Green, sister-in-law of the
groom. Bridesmaids were
Jaime Kutach, Kristi Brod,
Melinda Drastata, cousin of
the bride; and Rhea Harvey,
cousin of the groom.
Flower girl was Cayla
Green, daughter of the groom.
Attendants wore strapless
peacock blue satin gowns
with a sweetheart neckline
and empire waist. They wore
matching shawls and carried
nosegays of yellow roses.
Best man was Clint Green,
brother of the groom.
Groomsmen were Nick
Koenig, brother of the groom;
B.J. Hicks, Fabian Benavides
and Doug Holt.
Ringbearer was Justin
Koenig, brother of the bride.
Ushers were Austin Dale,
cousin of the bride and Tanner
Surratt and Taylor Surratt,
both cousins of the groom.
Lector was Debbie Alaniz,
wedding coordinator was
Betty Redick, aunt of the
bride. Witnesses were Sumer
and Clint Green.
The reception followed at
the El Campo Civic Center.
Music entertainment was pro-
vided by Clint “Clinto”
Robinson. The couple’s first
dance was to Stand By Me by
Ben E. King.
The bride’s cake was a
round five-tiered confection
iced with buttercream frosting
and accented with iridescent
scrolls, pink ribbon and
topped with fresh pink
stargazer lilies.
The groom’s cake was a
rectangular-shaped French
vanilla cake decorated with a
welder.
Members of the house party
were Hannah Dale, Lindsey
Piwonka, Jennifer Piwonka,
Shane Piwonka, Amber
Crume and Sabrina Crume.
A rehearsal dinner was held
on Feb. 18 at the St. James
reception room.
The couple is making their
home in Ganado.

Genealogical society meets
The Victoria County
Genealogical Society met Feb.
14 at the First Christian
Church fellowship hall in
Victoria.
Willie E. B. Blackmon of
Houston presented program
about African-American
research. Blackmon has been
researching his family for 36
years. His presentation was
designed for beginners as well
as intermediate researchers.
He included tools to use such
as a family Bible, interview-

records from Jamison Funeral
home in Cuero. These records
include family relationships
