Lampasas Street closed
Lampasas Street has shut down between S. Dallas Street and SW Main Street for con-
struction associated with the 2012-2013 Street Bond Program. City Manager Steve Howerton
said the street is planned to open immediately after strength testing scheduled for Satur-
day. Asphalt overlay work on the section of road will occur at a later date.
Another street slated for closure soon is the section of Baldridge Street from Munn Drive
to Country Club Road, which will closed down from Feb. 12-Feb. 15.

ElmoB. Wade
Elmo B. Wade, 87, passed away in Ennis, Texas on
Sunday, February 3, 2013.
Elmo was born in Commerce, Texas on September
10,1925 to Harvey and Emma (Wwbb) Wade. He grew
up in Ladonia and graduated from
Commerce High School in 1940. He re-
ceived a degree in Civil Engineering
from Oklahoma State University. On
July 4, 1953 he married Mary Nelson
and they made their home in Houston,
San Antonio and then to Ennis in 1963.
He served his country proudly in the
United States Army serving in the Pa-
cific Theater.
He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for ten
years as the Assistant Division Engineer. He was a
Registered Professional Engineer, State of Texas. He
founded and was owner of Trac-Work from 1973 until
1990 when he retired. He served on the Boards of
Polyguard, InterFirst Bank of Ennis and the Baylor
Hospital Board in Ennis. Mr. Wade was a Founding
member of the National Railroad Construction and
Maintenance Association. He was a member of the
Ennis Lions Club, and ser ved as a Board member for
the Ennis Golden Circle. He was an Assistant Engi-
neer for the City of Ennis and served on the Board of
Rail Port in Midlothian. Elmo was a long-time mem-
ber of the Ennis Airport Board and a licensed private
pilot. In addition, Mr. Wade served on the Ellis
County Tax Appraisal District Review Board and the
Ellis Central Appraisal District Board.
He is survived by his wife, Mary N. Wade of Ennis;
son, Ryan Wade and his wife Debby of Grapevine;
daughters: Kerry and her husband, Mark Denyer of
Bartlesville, OK and Christy and her husband, Paul
Lamb of Austin and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother,
Edsel Wade and one sister, May E. Gay.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February
10,2013 in the Family Life Center of Tabernacle Bap-
tist Church, 1200 Country Club Road, Ennis at 3:00
p.m.

Ricky Dean Anderson
Ricky Dean Anderson, 61, passed away in Rice,
Texas on Monday, February 4, 2013.
Ricky was born in Ennis, Texas on January 3,1952
to Kenneth K. and Hazel L. (Sheets) Anderson. He
grew up in Grapevine and Ennis and graduated from
Ennis High School in 1970. On July 31, 1999 he mar-
ried Vickie Richardson Defoore and they made their
home in Rice, Texas.
He worked for Ennis Business Forms for over
twenty years as a pressman. He served as president
of the Pressmen’s Union for eight years, he was a
member of the Shakers and Scraper’s Car Club of
Corsicana and the Emmanuel Baptist Church of Cor-
sicana. He loved and enjoyed his family and old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Anderson;
daughter, Brandy and her husband, Jeff Mills; grand-
daughter, Kyra Hatley: step-sons: Mark Defoore,
Joshua Defoore and Jacob Defoore; his parents, Ken-
neth and Hazel Anderson and two sisters: Beverly
Hoffman and Cathy and her husband, Willie Crawley.
He is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma
Anderson and brother-in-law, Tommy Hoffman.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 7, 2013
from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of
Ennis. A Celebration of his life will take place on Fri-
day, February 8,2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.E. Keever Mor-
tuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in Rice
Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortu-
ary, Inc.

Antonia Olalde
Antonia Olalde Escamilla, 89, passed away in Dallas
on Monday, February 4,2013.
Antonia was born in Henderson County on March 15,
1923 to Jose and Maria (Gutierez) Olalde and grew up in
Henderson County She married Alberto Escamilla in
1938 and they made their home in the Byrd-Rankin Area.
She worked for the Ennis Nursing Home for over
eighteen years as a Nurses’ Aide. She loved her family
and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed
sewing and gardening.
She is survived by one son, Domingo Escamilla; one
grandson, James Frye; nieces: Lucy,
| Lupe, Janie and Maria: one great-niece
Crystal and her pet and companion
ChaCha.
She is preceded in death by her par-
ents, her husband, one brother and sev-
eral sisters.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8
p.m. in Friday, February 8, 2013 with
Rosary at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 8,
2013. A Celebration of her life will take place on Satur-
day February 9,2013 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel
at 10 a.m. with Father Antonio Ormaza officiating. In-
terment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery under the di-
rection of J.E. Keever Mortuary Inc.

in crash, arrest

A man accused of run-
ning from the police re-
mains in jail a week after
his wild ride came to a vi-
olent end.

ment Thursday
confirming 33-
year-old Billy
Jack Parker of
Lancaster re-
mains in the
Wayne McCollum Deten-
tion Center in Waxa-
hachie pending the
posting of $30,000 in
bonds.
A sheriffs deputy at-
tempted to pull over a
motorcycle at approxi-
mately 12:45 p.m. Feb. 1 at
the intersection of Farm-
to-Market Road 984 and
State Highway 34. The
driver, later identified as
Parker, allegedly failed to
yield and fled at a high
rate of speed.
Parker, along with a fe-
male passenger, contin-
ued to flee at speeds well
over the posted limit.
Parker’s alleged wild
ride ended suddenly
when he failed to negoti-
ate a sharp curve, wreck-
ing the bike and
throwing he and his pas-
senger off the ve-
hicle.
The driver ad-
vised he did not
need medical at-
tention and was
placed in hand
restraints and de-
tained.
EMS arrived
and checked the
driver, who re-
fused treatment.
The female was trans-
ported to a Dallas hospi-
tal with minor injuries.
The motorcycle’s li-
cense plate returned
stolen out of Dallas PD;
the motorcycle’s VIN re-
turned stolen out of Fort
Worth PD. The criminal
offenses are being han-
dled by the Sheriffs Of-
fice. The Department of
Public Safety worked the
motorcycle accident.
Parker was arrested
pending charges of unau-
thorized use of a motor
vehicle and evading ar-
rest.

The National Association of Active/Retired Fed-
eral Employees Chapter 1191 will hold its monthly
meeting, on Tuesday, Feb. 12,, from 11:30 to 1 p.m., at

Ennis High School will hold a One Act Play Festi-
val from 8 to 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 12 and Wednes-
day, Feb. 13.
Sterling to host V-Day celebration
Sterling House will host a Valentine’s Day celebra-
tion from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14. Drinks and
desserts will be provided. Wear your best red or pink
attire for a chance to win a prize and see who will be

Knights to hold Casino Night
The Knights of Columbus will host a Casino Night
fundraiser on Feb. 16 at the Knights of Columbus Hall
to raise money to support various needs, such as help-
ing families in need, college scholarships, supporting
the Special Olympics and more. Tickets are $25 pre-
sale or $35 at the door, and can be exchanged for $1,000
in gambling chips. Games will include blackjack,
roulette, craps and Texas Hold ‘Em Poker.
