Imagine how much easier
your genealogy research would
be if your ancestors had re-
corded and preserved their fam-
ily information. Sadly, there is
nothing than can be done about
this oversight. You can how-
ever, begin with the informa-
tion you do have. First, make
sure that all your own family
information is entered on fam-
ily group sheets and pedigree
charts. Then work backward to
the previous generations. Con-
tact relatives and old family
friends for assistance.
Use primary sources such as
land, probate and church
records. Your home away from
home for a while will be the
county clerk’s office where
most of these records are
stored. Make photocopies of
any relevant information you
find. Make extra copies to
leave at home when you travel
to do research and take the cop-
ies with you. Organize your
records and pay attention to
clues your ancestors might
have left. If you have access to
an online computer, visit the
various family websites of
people researching the same
surnames. Also, census records
for most states are available
online.
Make a resolution to do
more for your family than your
ancestors could do for you.
Give copies of all research to
children and grandchildren and
hopefully the bug of genealogy
will bite them.

Hello from Ramah Baptist
Church and the Ramah Com-
munity. Our number was back
up in Sunday School. It was the
largest number we have had in
a while. Our attendance in
Church service was even
higher. My sermon was on
compassion. As Jesus set the
example for compassion, so
should we follow his example.
The bible says in 1 Peter
3:8...Finally, be ye all of one
mind, having compassion one
of another, love as brethren, be
pitiful, be courteous. Let us all
be compassionate to one an-
other. Our Birthday people this
week were Judy Agnew and the
Holly Linebarger. Holly is the
daughter of Matthew and Eliza-
beth Linebarger of Tenaha.
Holly turned three years old.
Happy birthday to theses two.
Sunday was a very special
day here at Ramah. It was
Firemen’s Appreciation day,
and we invited our Tenaha Vol-
unteer Firemen to come and
celebrate this day with a Lun-
cheon in their honor . A cer-
tificate of appreciation was
given to Chief Menefee in rec-
ognition of this day. For lunch

fixins. As usual our ladies did
a fine job of preparing a great
feast. With kids and adults,
there was about one hundred
there for lunch. We had a great
time together. During our
Church service, my wife Dor-
othy Perry, Rhonda Samford
and Judy Agnew sang a patri-
otic song, but before they sang
we had everyone stand for a
moment of prayer while Bro.
Red Odom rang our Church
Bell eleven time in honor of
those who had lost their lives
last year in the 911 terrorist at-
tack . Let us never forget that
day. Next time you see one of
our firemen, tell him or her how
much you appreciate them.
Think about it, what if no one
wanted to be a fireman ? What
if we didn’t have our volunteers
? Then where would we be ? It
will make you think !
Our next project here at
Ramah will be to raise money
to build a play ground for our
children. In order to do this, we
have decided to sell cook
books, and we must gather 350
recipes in the next two weeks.
Many of our ladies and men, are
putting together their recipes,
and we would love to have your
