CLOVIS, NM—An email
from the Forrests: “Can’t
believe my grand daughter is
so funny. I would say she has
a future in entertainment, but
she already lives to entertain
everyone she meets. See for
yourself as you check out
these pics. It is hard to believe
that she will be 2 years old this
week. Oh, how time flies when
you’re having a blast.

Things you can live without knowing if you have to!
Where did the saying “If the
shoe fits” originate?
How about “walk a mile in
another’s shoes?” And, “if the
shoe was on the other foot?”
How exactly does one “skirt”
an issue? Maybe you could
“shirt” it.
Why is an unlikely idea some-
times called “fly by night?”
What relation was Lot to
Abraham? See answer on
classified page.
How far down is your “bot-
tom dollar?’
What does live “from hand
to mouth” mean? Who origi-
nated that?
How did the expression “let
‘er rip” come to mean let ev-
erything go at will?
Why is a jester called a
“fool?”
A phone visit with Maureen Price
By Clark Partin
Mother’s Day turned out to
be a very special day for me as
I was able to visit, over the tele-
phone, with a very special lady
that grew up in Tenaha, Texas.
She now lives in Tyler. Maureen
Wall Price and I have been
friends for a number of years,
believe it or not, 50 years. Cindy
Lu, her youngest daughter and
I were lucky enough to attend
school together in Tyler, Texas.
We graduated from Robert E.
Lee and have remained friends
ever since. In fact, Cindy Lu
was the person who answered
the telephone, and yes we talked
about the good old times we
had while we were attending
school. Maureen and her hus-
band, Bud, were really helpful
to all of us young kids as we
were growing up. I still appre-
ciate the advice they gave me
back in the mid 1950’s and
early 1960’s. Heck, I still take
notes from Maureen every time
that I visit with her. I would not
be living in Tenaha if it had not
been for Maureen. She called
me and insisted that I buy her
ole homeplace. This was the
Jim Wall place where Fran and
I live today. We both thank her
for choosing us to purchase
this place. We have become a
part of Tenaha and we have
loved every minute of the time
we have been here.Maureen
has never forgotten Tenaha or
the people in this area. She has
relatives she keeps in touch
with and I know that Reba
Weesner stays in touch with
her. Talking with Maureen, as
usual, she always asks me
how everything is going in
Tenaha. She keeps up with the
local news by reading the
Timpson/Tenaha News each
week. She has been recover-
ing from a bad fall and Cindy
Lu told me that she read the
paper to her last week. Her
daughters have been nursing
her back to health and she has
been able to return to her
home. I know that Judy, her
other daughter, was glad to get
mom back home. She always
tells me to tell everyone hello
and her prayers are with us all.
Even though, she no longer
lives in Tenaha, she will always
love and be a part of this town.
She will cherish these memo-
ries she had forever. Maureen,
we love you and I will see you
in a couple of weeks. Get Well
!! -’’Poodie”
Thank You
I want to take this opportunity to express
my thanks to all of the supporters who
voted for me in the Timpson School Board
of Trustees election.
Your loyalty and support have meant a lot
to me through the years I served on the
board.
Thanks again,

Thank You from Timpson
Volunteer Fire Department
TVFD would like to say Thank You to some very special
people. Our Potato Bake on May 7th was a big success, but
only because of some very special people. We would like to
send a big thank you to all of the people of the community who
purchased the dinners, and an even bigger thank you to the
ones that made donations with their purchases.
We would like to thank Elizabeth Goff for purchasing the food
products in memory of Bobby Goff and donating them to the
Fire Dept., Marsha Tomlinson who called the ladies of the com-
munity for donations of cakes, then cutting them up and bag-
ging them for us, the ladies who made the cakes and donated
them for the Potato Bake, (Sorry I don’t know all the names),
Sam and Zuvona Parks for baking the potatoes, and Timpson
ISD for allowing them to use the ovens at the school to bake
them.
We cleared $1,257.50 on the Potato Bake. This money will be
put in our Special Account which we are saving for the pur-
chase of a new or used Tank Truck. A Quilt has also been
donated to the Fire Dept for us to raffle off. It was pieced
together by Dell Franklin and quilted by the RS VP. The tickets
are $1 each or 6 for $5. The drawing will be held during
Frontier Days. This money will also be placed in the special
account. If anyone is interested in purchasing tickets for the
quilt, please ask any fireman.
Once again, thank you to everyone involved with the Potato
Bake. It was a big success._
