K^Ve Epiphany Catholic Mission
By Fran Sobieski
On August 18, a holy day of
obligation, the Epiphany Catholic
Mission celebrates the assumption
of the Blessed Mother. In her own
way, Mary was crucified with
Jesus. She patiently stayed on
earth after the ascension, so long
as God willed.
Mary was predestined from
eternity by the decree of Divine
Providence that determined the
incarnation of the Word to be the
Mother of God. Above all others
she was put on earth the associ-
ate and handmaid of the Lord. We
therefore, can say that the Divine
mind, as revealed to us, is insepa-
rably with the Word who became
flesh in her. She has no purpose
except in and for him.
The union founded on the Di-
vine Motherhood, extends to con-
stant and unique association in the
work of salvation. From the “yes”
of the annunciation to the sorrow-
ful assent of Calvary, Mary de-
voted herself totally to the person
and the work of her son. If any-
one has followed Christ to the ut-
most without failing, it was Mary.
How then could He not gather her
up with Him to the glory to which
the cross is the way and portal?
What other compensation could
He imagined for Mary than this
immediate and total participation
in the life of the risen Christ
From her place in heaven
Mary still abides invisibly with
us, ever our refuge, our comfort,
our hope. Through the commun-
ion of Saints, of which she is
Mary Queen of Heaven, we
share in the joy and glory of her
assumption as we pray; Almighty
and everlasting God, you have
raised to eternal glory immacu-
late Mary, Mother of Your Son,
Grant that our minds may always
be directed heavenward and that
we may deserve to share in her
glory._____

I have a right to believe
and practice whatever I want
in religion!”
“I can serve God in which
ever church I may choose/ ”
“I am free to worship God
any way that pleases me! ”
The above statements are of-
ten heard as people argue for their
reason for not following the doc-
trine taught in the Gospel of Jesus
Christ, recorded in the Holy Bible.
Yes, under the law of our coun-
try, they are true statements. But
if you want to please God, you do
not have a right to pick and
choose. God created man in His
own image, and placed him above
animals. Giving us a mind to know
right from wrong. He also stated
:Matt. 3: 17 ctAndlo, a voice from
Heaven saying, This is my be-
loved Son in whom I am well
pleased. ”
Matt. 1&: 5 “ While He yet
spoke, behold, a bright cloud over-
shadowed them: and behold a
voice out of the cloud, which said,
This is my beloved Son in whom
lam well pleased, hear ye Him. ”
Therefore we must conclude, if
we wish to please God we must
hear His Son.
Paul asked the Galatians, Gal.
4: 30 “Nevertheless what saith the
scriptures?..” Let us see what the
scriptures tell us about the wor-
ship of God.
1. We must worship in spirit.
Matt. 4:23 “God is a Spirit: and
they that worship Him must wor-
ship in spirit and in truth.”
2. He gave the keys of the
kingdom to the apostles, telling
them He would send them a Com-
forter.
Matt. 16: 19” And I will give
unto thee keys of the kingdom of
heaven and whatsoever thou shalt
bind on earth shall be bound in
heaven and whatsoever thou shalt
loose on earth shall be loosed in
heaven.”
Matt. 14: 26 “But the Com-
forter, which is the Holy Ghost,
whom the Father will send in my
name, he shall teach you all things
and bring to remembrance what-
soever I have said unto you.”
2 Tim. 3: 16 “All scripture is
given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof,
for correction, for instruction in
righteousness.”_
Yes, you can believe what you
want, but, you can’t please God
unless it is what He has revealed
in the Bible. I Thess. 5:21 “Prove
all things, hold fast that which is
good.”

The greatest friends, you just get tired of one
another after 12 years or so, you
know? Probably the best thing of
not having to return to high school
this fall is...football. Many a heat
stroke I endured in my past 4
years of gridiron torture. My
friends and I have also had the
privilege of running around the
track with our helmets on for con-
ditioning. Most recently, we all
lived through what was called a
"county fair". A well disguised
form of PO.W abuse from the
early wars. Just thinking about it
brings back the sheer horror of it
all. Which makes me wonder. Why
are Greg, Gadget, Eric, and Poppy
going to play at Cisco? Are ya'll
nuts! ? But then I think to myself,
"I have won. I am no longer apart
of the system. I have gone and
am now apart of yet another one.
The real world. Which is filled with
more trouble than you can shake
at stick at. I guess it's better than
getting beaten with a stick.
Ah, sweet memories of high
school. And on one last note, thank
goodness I ain't out in the hot, hot
sun, in those hot, hot pads! Amen
for graduation!

go to heaven, but I am not ready
to die.
Rev 22: 14 says, “Blessed are
they that do His commandments
that they may have right to the tree
of life, and may enter in through
the gates into the city.” I under-
stand this is the Revelation of
Jesus Christ, which God gave unto
Him, to shew unto His servants
things which must shortly come
to pass. And he sent and signified
it by his servant John. I am
blessed. I could have been dead
and sleeping in my grave, but he
let me live on. I tell you I am
blessed.
Let me give you some of the
things that Jesus Christ showed
John. #1 - A river and the tree of
life. This river was pure and clear
as crystal and it was proceeding
out of the throne of God and of
the Lamb. In the midst of the
street of it and on either side of
the river was there the tree of life,
which bare twelve manner of fruit
and yielded her fruit every month
and the leaves of the tree were
for the healing of the nations. For
you and I are blessed and better
than blessed. When we get up day
by day and put on our clothes.
#2 John was carried by the
Spirit to a great and high moun-
tain and the Lord Jesus Christ
shewed unto John that great city,
the holy Jerusalem, descending out
of heaven from God. # 3. Her light
was like unto a stone most pre-
cious. Even like a jasper stone,
clear as crystal. #4 - A wall great

names written thereon which are
the names of the 12 tribes of chil-
dren of Israel. For I am blessed
better than blessed. Thank you.
On the east side three gates, and
on the north three gates, on the
south three gates and on the west,
three gates. #5, the wall of the
city had twelve foundations and
in them the names of the 12
apostles of the Lamb.
#6, The city lieth four square
and the length is as large as the
breadth and he measured the city
with the reed, 12,000 furlongs. The
length and the breadth and height
of it are equal. This lets me know
we are all equal in God’s eye who
have been born again. #7, the
building of the wall of it was of
Jasper and the city was pure gold,
like unto clear glass and the foun-
dation of the wall of the city were
garnished wi th all manner of pre-
cious stones. Doris Linebarger, the
first foundation was jasper, the
second, sapphire, the third, a chal-
cedony, the fourth, an emerald.

gates were 12 pearls, every sev-
eral gate was of one pearl and the
street of it was pure gold, as it
were transparent glass. I am bet-
ter than blessed. Think I am
blessed.
