because as always, Industrial ex-
pects to win, and tenured Head
Coach Fellers expects her girls to
put in the work to win, as always.
“We’re very young and we have
a lot of learning, of figuring out
how to play together,” said Fellers.
“We’re making some young mis-
takes, but in our wins we’ve had
some good moments too.”
Seniors MaKayla Lenamon and
McKenna Zacek are the only vet-
erans returning from last year’s
squad, but bring a potent offense
with them with Lenamon’s pass-
ing and hitting and Zacek’s power
hitting game.
“We’re trying to improve our
defense. We’re still offensively-
minded, but we’re trying to im-
prove our coverage and be more
defensively minded. We’ve really
been working on our serve receive
and communication, we’ve been
making plays so we hope that im-
proves.”
Youth does not imply caution
for Fellers and her strikers.
“Our goal as always is the play-
offs. There’s a new district and few
teams left from last year, so it’s a
new direction.”
Three of the District 30-2A
schools came down from 3A, but
Industrial feels they are good
enough to return to the playoffs
after last year’s second round Area
loss to Rogers.
“The fishing theme - Casting’m
Out and Reeling’m In - was we
knew when the season ended last
year we would have limited re-
turners. We knew whoever we
brought out would be new this
year, so that’s the theme, we’re
throwing them out there to see
what we reel in,” grinned Fellers.
“We are trying a lot of different
things. Our big ‘O’ is McKenna,
and MaKayla can score for us,
with Darcie (Moreno, junior) also
hitting.”
