After five games it was found to
be a tie between Mrs. D. B.
Taliaferro and Miss Carter.
Mrs. Taliaferro drawing the
lucky bone, winning the prize, a
box of candy, which she present-
ed to the visitor. Miss Townsend
The visitors prize, a dainty bas-
ket, going to her sister. Music
was furnished by the young
ladies and was a treat to all.
Thanking the hostess for the
pleasant afternoon, regretting
the short stay of the girls and
trusting they may honor Madill
by coining again, the ladies de-
parted.

The young people came early
and stayed late, and all sqerned
to have had an immense time.
Quite a number of out of town
visitors were present and nearly
all Madill’s young people were
there.
Mr. and Mrs. Carter are splen-
did entertainers and are at home
when it comes to handling young
people on an occasion like this.—

attorney general’s department
has tiled penalty suits against
the Houston*and Texas Central,
Santa Fe and West Texas fail-
ure to comply with the railroad
commission’s orders as to report-
ing legal expenses. District
Judge Wilcox recently dismissed
several suits of this character'
and these suits will likely go the
same way.
The State of Texas finds itself
loser to the amount of $141,000

drawal of many life insurance
companies, not to speak of loss
in rents of buildings and offices
to agents, or the groceries, farm
products, fuel and other things
that agents would have bought.
This tax item will have to be
