ECUW funds Love Basket Goodfellows
Two Dublin agencies who
Sec. A, Page
receive funds from the Erath
County United Way are
examples of what is done to
help those most in need in
the community.
While The Love Basket
provides food, Dublin
Goodfellows can provide
help with rent, bills, or other
necessities.
The Love Basket is a non-
profit corporation whose
purpose is to provide food
for Erath County families
who aren’t getting enough to
eat.
The food pantry was
started in Oct. 2005, as a
Sunday school project of the
Patrick St. Church of Christ
in Dublin. In Oct. 2Q07, it
became an independent
entity which relies on
individual and corporate
contributions, fund raisers,
an annual food drive, and
funds from the ECUW.
Non-perishable food items,
frozen meats and fresh
produce are available the
first and third Fridays of the
month from 9-11 am and
6-8 pm at 207 E. Elm in the
Quik-Lok Storage office.
Non-perishable food may be
dropped off at the Dublin
Public Library. Tax
deductable cash donations
may be made at Bradberry’s
Building Supply or The
Golden Butterfly Jewelers in
Dublin. Formoreinformation
Ray or Barbara Sissom at
445-8081 or Charlie
Bradbeny at 445-4030.
Dublin Goodfellows are
there to help those in crucial
need with rent, natural gas,
water or electric bills, or
groceries. Goodfellows also
helps those who arc without
a place to reside by providing
motel rooms, as well as help
finding clothing and
household necessities, such
as a refrigerator or stove.
Goodfellows also helps
people who need plumbing
and minor electrical repairs.
In coiyunction with Grace
Place, Faith Lutheran Church
and First Baptist Church of
Dublin, Goodfellows helps to
generate a “pledge letter” for
those whose bills exceed
what one organization can
provide.
Goodfellows is also heavily
involved in helping needy
families provide food for
their families during
Christmas, and in special
cases, provides Christmas
presents for children.
All Dublin Goodfellows
workers are volunteers, and
100% of donations go to help
those in need. Because there
has been a tremendous
increase in numbers of those
who need help.
Goodfellows uses 100% of
the Erath County United Way
funds to benefit the people
of Erath County. For more
information about
Goodfellows, contact Michael
Haley at 254-445-8137.

diverse career experiences to
get an excellent feel for the
people that have become her
characters.
Is a true story.
For those of us who remember
those early years of NASA
this book gives a daunting
look at the wives who lived
the anxiety, helplessness,
dread, etc. of what would
happen next.
Togethersville—as the
Houston astronaut suburb
was called—invites the reader
inside the living rooms as
these women gathered
around TV sets to see if their
husbands would live or perish
when the space capsules
splashed down. It was a very
harsh life that took an
enormous toll on individuals,
marriages, and families.
This book has been touted
as the REAL story of Ihe
Right Stuff and Of a Fire on
the Moon both works that
told of the early space years
from a different point of
view.
The sacrifices made by
these wives were every bit as
important as the men who
made the history.
One other quick note on
this book—I loved the two
sections of photos that
showed the intense family/
comradeship shared by these
women and their children.
The Astronaut Wives Club is
an eye opener!
