Record Correspondent Retires On Move
Only twice in the past 29 years,
prior to this issue of The Clifton
Record, has a report of activities
in the Lanes Chapel community
written by Miss Stella Vickrey fail-
ed to appear in the Record.
On one of those occasions the
weekly letter was written; but a
storm blew the report from the
mail box. and it failed to reach the
late R L. Baldridge, editor of the
paper at the time. The only other
time was just prior to the death of
Miss Vickrey’s mother, when long
nursing hours prevented time for
the weekly letter.
The retirement from her position
as reporter from her beloved com-
munity came about with the move
of Miss Vickrey and her brothers,
V. C. and Noah Vickrey, to Clifton
following the sale of the Vickrey
ranch to W T. Hix of Gitesville.
Miss Vickrey always loved her
community and the people who
made it live, and she thoroughly
enjoyed reporting their daily ac-
tivities, especially when it was
good news. She wrote with deep
sympathy when any of her friends
met with misfortune.
At the top of her interests is
Miss Vickrey's desire to help her

that she has been even more faith-
ful than in her work for the Record,
