Area Couple Unite
In Baptist Service
Paula Gail Burkett and Jerry
Lynn Sulsar were united in
marriage at 2 p.m. Saturday,
Feb. 20 at the Weaver Baptist
Church. The Rev. Gary Cox,
pastor of Weaver Baptist,
performed the double-ring
ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Burkett of
Weaver. The bridegroom is the
son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert
Sulsar of Bogata.
The candlelight ceremony
was enhanced by an alter
decked with greenery and
burgundy and rose tapers. Two
flower baskets held pink and
white carnations, gladiolas and
greenery.
Given in marriage by her
parents, the bride wore an
empire waistline gown of soft
organza which flowed into a
chapel train. The Queen Anne
neckline was edged in Venice
lace and the bodice of the gown
was covered with Venice
medallions and tiny seed
pearls. The full bishop sleeves
of the gown were accented with
imported lace as also was the
front and hemline of the gown.
The bride wore a walking length
veil of Venice lace and white
illusion designed especially for
her gown.
The bride’s bouquet consisted
of pink carnations, roses and
baby's breath accented with
burgundy and pink lace and
satin streamers.
Miss Paula Edwards of
Weaver served as maid of
honor. Miss Ramona Copeland
of Weaver was the bridesmaid.
The attendants wore
burgundy and rose, tea-length
dresses made of polyester
satinet and chiffon. They each
carred a bouquet of pink car-
nations and baby’s breath
accented with burgundy and
rose ribbons.
Roger Andress of Mount
Vernon attended as the bes
man. Lyle Williams of Bogata
was the groomsman.
the bridegroom wore a dark
plum tuxedo with a white shirt
trimmed in pink and burgundy
edged ruffles. His attendants
wore dark plum tuxedoes with
white pleated shirts.
Candlelighters for the service
were Jeff Burkett and Brent
Burkett, brothers of the bride.
Ushers were Russell Stidham
of Paris and Michael Goldsmith
of Weaver.
Wedding music was provided
by Miss Tamera Mobley. Miss
Karen White, Miss Vickie White
and Miss Janice Edwards sang
"Surround Me With Love” and
“God, A Woman and a Man.”
A reception in the fellowship
hall of the church was held
following the ceremony. The
bride’s table was covered with a
lace and chiffon cloth over
burgundy and held a three-
tiered wedding cake topped
with pink satin wedding bells. A
silver candelabra held
burgundy and rose tapers with
an arrangement of fresh roses,
carnations and greenery in the
center. Fruit punch was served
from a crystal punch bowl.
The bridegroom’s table held
the traditional German
chocolate cake and coffee was
served from a silver coffee
service.

table. Mrs. Victor Carrell of

The bride is a 1981 graduate of
Saltillo High School and at-
tended East Texas State
University.
The bridegroom is a 1976
graduate of Rivercrest High
School and attended Paris
Junior College. He is employed
as a plant electrician by Texas
Utilities in MonticeUo.
After a short wedding trip to
Tyler, the couple will make
their home in Hagensport.

City Cemetery
The City Cemetery Society
met Monday, April 5 at the
Peoples National Bank.
Lot owners were reminded to
pick up any Christmas
arrangements they may have
forgotten about. A request was
made from the chairman of.the
beautification fund and the
cemetery supervisor was read
asking people to please not dig
holes in which to bury flower
pots as moles and gophers dig
out the dirt and it must be filled
in. This also causes stones to
become tilted.

streamers. The unity candle
was of brass and featured
purple shades of silk flowers
with white candles. Four palm
trees made with green foliage
were placed at vantage points.

and purple ribbon streamers
were used.
Given in marriage by her
father, the bride wore a formal,
white organza gown fashioned
with re-embroidered Alencon
lace. Embellished with lace and
seed pearls, the bodice featured
a high neckline, sheer yoke,
long tapered sleeves and fitted
waistline accented in the back
with a scalloped lace and pearl
peplum. Beaded motifs of
Alencon lace enhanced the full
skirt which swept to a cathedral
train. A waltz-length illusion
veil, bordered with Alencon
lace and seed pearls, com-
plemented the gown.
The bride carried a bouquet
of white rose buds, white
miniature carnations, purple
statice and baby's breath in a
crescent design with ribbon
streamers of bridal white satin
to add a touch of old fashion
elegance.
