PAGEANT PLANS ANNOUNCED
- The 13th Annual Miss Polk County
Pageant is scheduled for Saturday,
February 7, 1987 at the Florence
Crosby Auditorium.
The Polk County Chamber of Com-
merce is looking for a typical
teenage girl from Polk County to
serve as its representative for the
year 1987.
The typical teenage girl will not be
married, never have been married,
of good moral conduct and a Junior
or Senior in High School with good
grades.
The reigning Queen will serve in
many capacities as she represents
Polk County. At the end of her reign
and upon acceptance to an ac-
credited college, she will be award-
ed a $250.00 scholarship in honor of
Pattiye Carmona, Miss Polk County
1977 who died in a tragic traffic acci-
dent.
You are cordially invited to spon-
sor a young lady to represent your
organization. We ask that you make
your selection, fill in the enclosed
form and return to the Chamber of-
fice no later than 5 p.m. December
19, 1986. No portion of the required
data will be considered an entry.
Due to the time involved in putting
together a program of this size, we
must limit the pageant to twenty
(20) contestants. This being done by
receipt of entry, (first 20). First
come, first served, Entry forms may
be handcarried, or mailed to the
Chamber office; however
postmarks after 5 p.m. December
19th will not be accepted. Sponsor is
responsible for getting the entry
forms to the Chamber office, and are
reminded that you, as sponsor, are
responsible for any and all contact
with the Chamber office in regards
to the pageant; we ask that the con-
testants not contact the Chamber of-
fice.
Your entry, if selected to serve as
Miss Polk County, will be expected
to represent the Chamber in the Pine
Cone Festival Parade, and the An-
nual Christmas parade in December
if info is turned in on time.
Please make sure she has
transportation, driver and a breast
ribbon of identification for these ac-
tivities.
ART LEAGUE TO MEET -
George Bevill wil judge the Liv-
ingston Art League Fall Show on
Saturday, November 22 in City
Auditorium.
The public is invited to attend and
also vote on the People’s Choice pic-
ture.
EXXON REMINDER - Exxon an-
nuitant board of directors are
reminded of a meeting on Nov. 20 at
5:30 p.m. in the Holiday Inn.
SENIOR ACTIVITY
THANKSGIVING DINNER - Thurs-
day, Nov. 20 at 6:30. Bring covered
dish and can of soup, if possible for
Mission Center donation. Sounds of
Heaven of Dayton will entertain.
HENDRIX TO PREACH - Come
hear Flynn Hendrix at The Church
of the Open Door in I^eggett. Sunday
School 9:45, Worship 10:30 and 7
p.m. Miracle Services at 7 p.m. on
Wednesdays.
REV. ANN SHEARER TO SPEAK
- First United Methodist District
Supervisor, The Rev. Ann Shearer
will be present at the 6 p.m. service
of the First Methodist church in Liv-
ingston. She will speak and present
charge conference information. A
reception will follow at 7 p.m. in the
Fellowship Hall.
MAKE PLANS TO ATTEND
THANKSGIVING SERVICE -The
Livingston Area Ministerial
Fellowship will sponsor the Com-
munity Thanksgiving Service Nov.
25 at 7 p.m. in the First United
Methodist Church. The Rev. Ernest
Johnson of Schwab City Baptist
Church will be the speaker. There
will be special music and a free-will
offering for the needy.
WOMEN’S AGLOW - Tonight at 7
p.m. in City Auditorium, Francis
Pittman will speak to Women’s
Aglow. Visitors welcome.
MAGNOLIA HILL WILL
FEATURE COLLEGE GROUP - A
group of college students from SFA
will hold special services beginning
at 10 a.m. on Nov. 23 at the Magnolia
Hill Assembly of God Church. Plan
to have lunch at noon, then the pro-
gram continues from 2 p.m. until?
VOLUNTEERS TO HEAR BILL
LOCKHART -On Nov. 20 at St.
Luke’s Episcopal Church at 2 p.m.,
Polk County Mission Center
volunteers will hear Bill I/cckhart.
Lockhart heads up the W. I. C. pro-
gram in Livingston. Kemebcr the
fall food drive which is currently
underway. The center will lx; open
Friday Nov. 21 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to
accept donations.
PUBLIC INVITED - On Sunday,
December 7 at 12 noon in St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church Parish
Hall, widows and widowers are in-
vited to attend a support group call-
ed DAWN. For more information
