We scarcely deem It ncressar) to lay before
the public a prospectus ns tlie paper lias con-
siderably advanced in Its fourth year and
must by this tlmrj be pretty genrrally known;
but as our country it rapidly filling up with
emigration and as ilir- control of the Western

present proprietor we have concluded to sub-
mit to common cuMom and comply wiih the
whrtiei or ft lends by laying before the public
Ihe following outline of our future course.
As politics have not as yet assumed a very
prominent position In our State we deem it
unnecessary to say more In reference to our
political course than that we arc democrats
of the Jefferson School having been reared and
educated in that t'idih and (hat when occasion
requires wc shall ever be found ready to advo
cate the measures and battle for the principles
of that party honestly believing that upon
their success depends the perpetuity of the
Union and our free Institution.

frontier and located In a section rapidly grow-
hi? in agricultural wealth and Importance and
attracting the attention uf lliL'dblant public we

To make our paper acceptable to all old and

pay that attention to the Literary dcpaitment
as to pi csen t a pleasing variety of reading mat-

We will also present to our readers n weekly
synopsis of current event made up of foreign
and domestic intelligence.
In fine our whole aim will he to so diversify
our columns as to make the Western Texan n
welcome weekly visitor lo eveiy family that
will favor us with their patronage.
Hoping by the kind aid and influence of
our agents and fi lends lo wlnm this prospectus
