TxDOT
Anticipates
'2-to-3 Month'
Implementation
for Downtown
Reliever Route
By Dustin Wright
Sentinel Managing Editor
Help in further relieving large truck traffic away from
the Gaines County Courthouse square - Seminole’s
busiest intersection - could come in "two-to-three
months," according to officials with the Texas Dept, of
Transportation officials.
At least for eastbound traffic traveling on U.S. Hwy
62/180 looking to head south on U.S. 385.
Currently, TxDOT - along with City of Seminole and
Gaines County officials -- are working on the venture.
Earlier this calender year, City of Seminole officials
visited with TxDOT representatives to help develop an
alternative tractor-truck reliever route for the eastbound
to southbound traffic through Seminole. What devel-
oped was a TxDOT proposal of turning tractor-truck
traffic southbound on N.W./S.W. 11th St. from
the US 62/180-N.W. 11th St. intersection to the
intersection of S.W. Ave. G. At S.W. Ave. G,
truck traffic would turn eastbound on S.W. Ave.
G and travel to the US 385 red-light intersection,
where it will turn southbound.
This is one of the initial routes we’ve actually
wanted from the beginning of this (truck by-

Sept Opening
August Target Date Scrapped
Due to Minor Setbacks
By Dustin Wright
Sentinel Managing Editor
Originally shooting for a late August opening, officials associated with the
construction of a western Seminole hotel development have pushed their
projected opening back a few weeks.
The $6 million Wingate by Wyndham development, an 88-room hotel
facility located in the 1100 block of Hobbs Hwy., has been under construc-
tion since the fall of 2012.
’ ’The project is moving along like we want for the most part, we’ve just run
into a few issues that are typical with any construction project," said Keith
Dial, Senior Vice President of MTP Hospitality Solutions, a Midland-based
hotel development/operating company overseeing the hotel project.
’ The way it looks right now, were looking at opening the (Wingate) some-
time in mid-to-late September," said Dial. "Of course, that can change, too,
but 1 certainly hope not because were eager to get this (hotel) open."
The Wingate by Wyndam’s proposed September opening comes just
weeks following the mid-July opening of a $3 million, 50-room Best Western
