— EBISD looks at future
Continued from Page 1
Short-term and long-term
needs will be developed by
prioritizing them.
“We begin to get some
package options,” Gadbois
said. ‘Well look at funding
options. It’s not our plan,
it’s your community’s plan.
It’s a community-based ap-
proach.”
Gadbois said Own-
ers Building Resource has
worked with more than 100
school districts around the
state. The Boling ISD re-
cently began working with
the company, and East Ber-
nard Superintendent Ross
Aschenbeck said the Bell-
ville ISD also contracted
with the company when he
was with that school district.
“It’s a fun process,” Gad-
bois said. “We’ve been doing
it for a long time. It’s fun to
get into a new community
and see what makes them
tick.”
In other business, a lock-
down drill held Jan. 31 went
smoothly, East Bernard Ju-
nior High Principal Emmett
Tugwell said.
Area law enforcement of-
ficials also took part in the
drill.
“They were very pleased
with the drill,” Tugwell said.
‘We feel like we have a good
plan. We’re open to input.”
Law enforcement officials
from the county are working
with the school district, as
well as the other four school
districts in the county.
“They want all the county
schools on the same page,”
Tugwell said.
EBISD officials will meet
with other school districts
to come up with a consisten
tplan with other districts.
The next school board
meeting will be held a week
later than usual, on the third
Monday, March 18.
The meeting is being
moved because the regular
meeting date would have
fallen during Spring Break.
— Sister city residents visit
Continued from Page 1
“It’s a neat place with neat
folks,” he said.
Boettcher said the town’s
inhabitants are very generous
and have previously showered
guests with gifts. They are
reportedly bringing paintings
with them to present to area
officials.
East Bernard residents
will return the favor. One
notable gift will be a football
autographed by the members
of the 2012 State Champion
East Bernard football team.
“They’re going to display it
in their city hall,” Boettcher
said.
Anyone wishing to meet
the delegation can stop by
the Wharton County Histori-
cal Museum at 1 p.m. Friday
or attend the reception at the
East Bernard City Hall, which
kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday.
