Good morning. On the blade of
the dress sword of Robert E. Lee
was an inscription in French:
“Aide toi et Dieu t’aidera” —
"Help yourself and God will
help you." A good reminder that
we are not alone but, we must
do our part.
Sunday, the 16th, was a
gorgeous day. It was a privilege
to attend church and thank God
for his blessings.
At the Morning Worship, Mrs.
Mike iKathy) Pierson sang a
beautiful hymn, “Rejoice,
Pilgrims of God." The exquisite
words and her artistic voice was
a lovely gift to all. Kathy is the
daughter of Rev. Ted
Steenblock, former pastor of
Trinity Lutheran Church.
The flowers that beautified
the church were given in loving
memory of Marty Smith by Carl
and Dora Smith and family.
Thank you for sharing.
It was so nice to have guests
at the Morning Worship.
Among those present were A1
and Marilyn Carlson of Arl-
ington and Clifton. Their son,
Ron, and his fiancee, Lynne
McBride of Dallas, were with
them. Ron and Lynne will be
married at Our Savior’s May 3.
Congratulations to the happy
couple!
Last Sunday afternoon, the
Waco Conference Brotherhood
met in the Parish Hall of Our
Savior’s, from 2:30-5 p.m. The
theme for the meeting was
“Commitment to Mission." The
guest speaker was Rev. Bill
Metting of Crawford.
If circumstances prevented
you from bringing cookies for
the Sunset Home Birthday Par-
ty, get busy. Take them to your
Circle leader or to the Sunset
Home Wednesday, March 19.
There’s no such thing as “too
many” for such an occasion.
Ladies, it is time for your
Scope subscription. The price is
$4.75. Give the money or check
to your circle leader or to Mrs.
Martin Hoel. Jr. Please do this
promptly.
The Texas Lutheran College
Choir will give a concert Thurs-
day, March 20. at Trinity
Lutheran Church in Clifton. It
begins at 7:30 p.m. Plan to at-
tend, because you will have an
evening of beautiful music.
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday,
which opens the door to Holy
Week. There will be a noon
devotion at the Presbyterian
Church in Clifton each day at
12:30 p.m. Everyone is invited
to attend.
Holy Thursday, March 27,
Communnion service will be at
Out Savior’s. Come at 7:30 p.m.
At this time I glance at the titles
of two of my books — “The Edge
of Infinity” and “Bridges to In
finity.” Although their contents
are not applicable, the titles are.
The Norse and Turkey Creek
Circles will give a baby shower
for Mrs. Lauri Aars, Saturday,
March 29, from 3-4 p.m. It will
be in the Parish Hall of the
church. All circle members and
friends are invited, so mark this
date on your calendar. It is a
grand way to honor a little-
one-to-be!
Plan Ahead News: The
Church Council has called a
meeting of the Congregation for
Tuesday, April 1, at 7:30 p.m.,
in the Parish Hall. There will be
a presentation of “Commitment
to Mission" and the request that
the congregation consider par-
ticipating in a fund drive. The
meeting should last about one
hour.
Someone wrote: "Nine-tenths
of our suffering is caused by
others not thinking so much of
us as we think they ought."
What do you think?
