side of Walnut Springs Shipping about 400,000 poinsettias over
the coming weeks, the Peters' poinsettias will be sold all over the
State of Texas during the holiday season.

World AIDS Day
WACO — Friday, Dec 1, marks the
eighth annual observance of World
AIDS Da^ Around the world 190 coun-
tries have designated this day to draw
attention to the AIDS pandemic
The 1995 World AIDS Day them^'
“Shared Right, Shared Responsibili-
ties,” emphasizes the importance Vf
equality and solidarity in the global
response to HIV and AIDS.
World AIDS Day will link commu-
nities across the United States in a
unified observance of dimming lights.
In Washington, D C., the White House
will dim its lights from 7:45 to 8 p.m
(esti to demonstrate commitment to the
fight against AIDS and as a tribute to
those living with AIDS and those who
^ have died In Waco, the theme of light
will be replicated by a candlelight vigil
at Indian Spring Park.
All communities are afferted by the
continuing spread of AIDS. The World
Health Organization estimates that 20
million men, women, and children
worldwide had been infected with HIV
as of June 1995 Approximately 4.5
million people have developed AIDS, a
20 percent increase from last year
In McLennan County, the Texas
Department of Health reports that 153
people have been diagnosed with AIDS
as of Sept 30, 1995 Of these, 89 have
died
