requirements.
The city will be out of compliance
on Tuesday, Dec. 5, according to the
current permit. Blum said the city had
managed to receive an extension from
the TNRCC through Dec. 18, to begin
an acceptable method of application.
The first method is to disc the sludge
into the ground where it has been ap-
plied. Blum said that this method is
not feasible Discing would have to be
done several times a week, he said. He
also said that the current landowner
uses the land where the sludge is ap-
plied for livestock grazing. Discing the
soil will defeat the usage of the land
for that activity.
The second method is described as
"tankage." Sludge is placed in a large
holding tank to lower the acidity level
of the material, then applied to the
ground.
The mayor said that an agricultural-
type tank and trailer can be utilized.
He said a 10,000-gallon tank can keep
the city from having to apply the sludge
on an everyday basis.
“I want to avoid any fines, and spend
that money solving the problem, while
spending as little money as possible,"
the mayor said. He added that the less
the city spends on this problem, the
more money will be available for the

The City Council approved a contract
with Janice Henry, chief appraiser of
the Bosque County Central Appraisal
District, to give Henry “authorization
of assistance in completion of property
value reports" for the city. The con-
tract is an extension of an agreement
already in place with the agency.
Mayor Blum noted that final tabu-
lations are complete for BCCAD’s Board
of Directors. Voting totals supplied to
Blum by Henry include:
• John D. Smith, Iredell — 1,074
votes.
• Mark Quinters. Valley Mills — 916
votes.
• Charles Lindley, Clifton — 900
votes.
• Robert Payne, Clifton — 823 votes.
• Mike Domel, Meridian — 811
votes.
• Ernest W Reinke, Jr., Meridian
— 476 votes.
The top five vote-getters — all board
of director incumbents — were elected
to two-year terms, beginning Jan. 1,

This is a crime, and violators will
be prosecuted. Parents should talk to
their children — let them know that it
may seem like a lot of fun, but it could
end up costing a lot of time and money
for someone. It could cost them a stiff
fine, and possibly jail time, when
caught.

vestigated by the department, as re-
ported by Sheriff Gage, include:
