Flower Show, Tasting Tea will
include Ogletree's porcelain
LIVINGSTON - The Polk
County Memorial Museum will
host the Polk County Garden
Club’s annual Flower Show
and Tasting Tea from 2 to 4:30
p.m. Tuesday, April 14. Along
with the beautiful floral designs,
horticultural arrangements and
tasty treats prepared by members,
hand-painted porcelain by the late
Wilma Lee Ogletree will be on
display.
Ogletree was an active member
of both the Polk County Garden
Club and the Livingston Art
League and worked in other media
as well as porcelain. She was
accepted as a master porcelain

Flowerette Junior Garden Club

Miss Eflie’s Cottage will be
open and stocked with baked
goods and handmade items.
Tasting tea recipes also will be
for sale in the gift shop. Stop by
the Empty Stocking table at Miss
Effie’s for information about the
annual program.
Tickets are available at the
museum or Miss Effie’s Cottage
for $5 each. Proceeds benefit the
garden club’s scholarship fund.

LIVINGSTON - Spring is
finally here. Warm season grasses
are greening up and growing and
many producers are preparing to
control weeds. Cattle are hustling
for green grass and producers are
busy with spring calf workings, or
soon will be, according to AgriLife
Extension Agent Mark Currie.
The Polk County Extension
Office, in conjunction with Tyler
and Trinity counties, are planning
the fourth annual three-part
series of Tri-County Beef Cattle
Workshops.
Series I will be held Friday, April
24 at the Purvis Big Red Barn on
Hvvy. 59 South, 1.4 miles from
the intersection of U.S. 59 and
U.S. 287 in Corrigan. The session
begins with registration at 8 a.m.
The program will run from 8:30
a.m. to 2:30 pjiL..

RAIN OR SHINE
Kids will search for approximately 20,000 candy and prize filled
eggs hidden in the park area. When the hunt is over, specially marked
eggs may be redeemed at Pavilion A for additional prizes donated
by local businesses.
Areas will be divided for each age group: 3-4,5-6,7-8.
A separate hunting area will be provided for children needing
the assistance of their parents. The first 200 children in this group
will receive an Easter Bag stuffed with candy & prizes.
There will be a drawing for children 9-12 for a boy’s & girl’s bicycle.
