CORRIGAN - Funeral services
for Laura McQueen Robinett, 91,
of Hempstead, formerly of the Lilly
Island community of Camden, were
held Wednesday, Feb. 13, from
Lilly Island Missionary Baptist
Church in Camden, with the Rev.
V.A. Huelett and the Rev. Ronnie
Coleman officiating Interment
followed in New Wensley Ceme-
tery in Leggett.
Mrs Robinett was born July 10,
1910 in the Lilly Island community
of Camden to the late Wash and
Mandy McQueen. She died Thurs-
day, Feb. 7, in the Retirement Care
Center in Hempstead.
At the age of 12, she joined Lilly
Island Missionary Baptist Church
and was baptized by the Rev. Ben-
jamin. In later years, she moved to
Houston and was united with Mt.
Corinth Baptist Church, where the
Rev. E.V. Hill was the pastor. She
was a faithful and dutiful member,
attending church activities and ser-
vices regularly. She later joined
Faith Missionary Baptist Church in
Houston under the leadership of the
Rev. Richard Robinson.
Mrs. Robinett attended and
graduated from Sam Houston High
School in Huntsville. Then she
entered Prairie View College and,
from there; Texas Southern Univer-
sity, obtaining a BS degree in edu-
cation and a master's degree. Her
teaching career began in Carmona
and later she taught in Leggett,
where she was the girls' basketball
coach. She was a substitute teacher
in the Livingston school district for
four years, under the direction of
Professor Robinson, where she was
hired as a math teacher. She was
united in matrimony to the late
Everett Vernon Robinett on Dec.
24, 1935.
Mrs Robinett was known as a
continual source of strength for her
family, who genuinely and unsel-
fishly cared about her family,
fridnds, and especially the children.
She was well-known for her home-
cooked meals. She was a member
of the The Order of Eastern Star
Watts Chapter No. 165. Her par-
ents, brothers and sisters, her hus-
band Everett and all of her in-laws
LIVINGSTON - Funeral ser-
vices for Mary Frances Dameron,
89, of Livingston, will be held at 2
p.m. today (Thursday) at the First
United Methodist Church with Dr
Thomas A. Kennedy. Rev. Mary
Shivers, Dr. Burl Graham III and

Interment will follow at Forest Hill
Cemetery.
Mrs. Dameron died Monday,
Feb. 11, at Memorial Medical Cen
ter-Livingston.

only daughter of Dr. James Haden
Dameron and Ellie Frances Camp-
bell Dameron. She was preceded in
death by her loving parents, and a
brother who was her best friend,

Gainesville, Ga. in 1939 with a
bachelor of science degree.
She was an avid and voracious

for Sam Alvin Winstead, 78, of
Livingston, formerly of Pittsburg,
were held Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2002,
from Erman Smith Funeral Home
in Pittsburg. Interment followed in
Piney Grove Cemetery in Upshur
County.
Mr. Winstead was born Feb. 20,
1923 in Wilson, N.C. and died Fri-
day, Feb. 8, in Northeast Medical
Center, Humble.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he
was awarded the Silver Star. Mr.
Winstead also served as a Boy
Scout troop leader for 20 years.
Survivors include his wife.

for 31 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a long time member of
First United Methodist Church of
Livingston and was a charter mem-
ber of the Livingston Pilot Club.
