Accidents
injure three
LIVINGSTON - T*o separate
accidents Friday morning sent three
people to the local hospital.
The first occurred at 7:20 a.m. on
FM 2457 at Hoyt Eastepp, 3.6
miles west of Livingston.
A 1997 Nissan pickup buck
driven by Julie Kay Hartman, 22,
of Livingston and a 1983 Chevrolet
pickup truck driven by Floyd Kiric
Hayes, 38, of Onalaska were both
southbound on FM 3457. Accord-
ing to Trooper Larry Pitts, Hayes
stopped, waiting for traffic to clear
so be could turn left onto Hoyt
Eastepp, and his truck was struck in
the rear by Hartman's vehicle.
Both drivers were listed as having
sustained non-incapacitating inju-
ries and were taken by ambulance to
Memorial Medical Center Living-
ston. A passenger in Hartman's ve-
hicle was listed as having sustained
possible injuries but was not trans-
ported by ambulance. Hartman was
cited for failure to control speed.
The second accident occurred at
8:10 a.m. on U.S. 59, 2.6 miles
south of Livingston.
Jack Lee Steinocher, 44, of Liv-
ingston was southbound and said he
saw a truck-tractor from a distance
entering U.S. 59 southbound from
a private drive, according to Pitts.
Steinocher continued in the left
lane, waiting for traffic in the right
lane to clear so he could change
lanes. As he neared the slow-
moving truck - a 1999 White trac-
tor-trailer driven by Edward A.
Goodrich, 66, of Diamond, Mo. -
he was still unable to change lanes,
applied his brakes and skidded into
the truck-tractor, the trooper said.
Steinocher was taken by ambu-
lahcc to the Livingston hospital
with possible injuries. No charges
were filed.
