Sons Of Hermann
July 1st Fish Fry
To Benefit CVFD
CLIFTON — In 2000 as the Clifton Volunteer
Fire Department worked to raise funds to pay for
equipment and a new fire truck, members of
Womack Lodge #135 were compelled to help and
so began the annual fish fry fundraiser. This
year’s event is set for July 1 at 6 p.m., at Womack
Hall.
Tickets are a minimum donation of $7 each,
with preschool aged children eating free, and ex-
tra donations to the cause will also be accepted
and appreciated. Members of the fire department
and the lodge will be selling tickets, which also
will be available at Clifton Feed and Service Cen-
ter.
“The Grand Lodge, Sons of Hermann, had ini
tiated a matching funds program to aid local
lodges when they sponsored a fund-raiser; in co-
operation with the local group the funds would
benefit,” explained a Womack Lodge spokesman.
“With lots of help from the community and other
organizations, and lots of hard work by members
of the Clifton VFD, the necessary funding was se-
cured.”
Lodge members felt the first fish fry was a good
way for the lodge and the community to continue
aiding the department in financing some of their
ongoing needs, bo, in cooperation with the fire
department, the event has continued as a way to
support the VFD and their needs.
“We are all aware of the strains put on VFD’s
by the numerous grass fires of the past year,” said
Lodge member Calvin Rueter. “Please respond
generously when a fire department member asks
you to make a donation for your tickets. We need
to put the CVFD in a strong position for any chal-
lenges they will face, either in Clifton or our ru-
ral areas.”
For more information, contact David Conrad
at 254/675-3416 or Kathy Wilson at 254/675-4331.
Pool Officials
Promote Safety
CLIFTON — The Clifton City
Council has approved rules and
rate fees for Olsen Park Pool. These
rules and others are posted at the
pool for the safety of all patrons and
pool officials remind visitors of the
value of the guidelines.
Because several rules were
adopted due to the city’s liability,
the city manager and the pool man-
ager would like the citizens to be
aware of the rules. The pool man-
ager and/or lifeguards are respon-
sible for enforcing the approved
rules and rates and to advise all
patrons of any other rules pertain-
ing to the use of the pool.
They also remind guests that not
complying could result in being re-
moved from the premises.
Posted rules approved by the
Clifton City Council include:
• No air floatation devices in the
pool, life jackets are available for
rent.
• No child under age of 10 years
old can be left at pool without adult
(18 years or older) supervision.
• Only one party booked at a
time.
• Not responsible for money or
valuables lost, lockers are available
for rent.
New rates adopted by the Coun-
cil are as follows:
• Admission — one day pass, $4;
season family pass (4 or less) $125;
extended family members, $25
each, (more than 4 at base family
residence); season pass for 2, $90;
season pass for 1, $65;
• Water Aerobics, $50
• Swim Lessons, $50 (2 week ses-
sion)
• Party Rental (2 hours) — < 40,

The City asks that all patrons
observe the rules and help keep the
pool a safe and pleasant place to
have fun and relax. For more infor-
mation, call the pool at 675-6648 or
City Hall 675-8337.

Rodeo Returns To
Clifton July 20-22
CLIFTON — The 55th Central Texas Fair and
Rodeo is just around the corner, set for July 20-22,
presented by the Clifton Horse Show Association. A
Calf Scramble is being added to the usual events,
allowing several 4H and FFA member children a
cash certificate to be used for the purchase and rais-
ing of livestock of their choice to be shown in the 2007
fair. A selection process will determine the applicants
who will be eligible to compete.
“As a landmark year, we plan to have the best show
ever,” said CHSA President Ken Slagle. “We are ex-
pecting a record number of fans this year.”
The association presents multiple youth scholar-
ships to Bosque County youths, and provides edu-
cational clinics, youth events, team ropings, trail
rides, and the opportunity for area youths to enjoy
the hometown arena on a daily basis.
“Our sponsors are what enable us to continue the
rodeo and youth series events throughout the year.
Without the continued support of our sponsors and
advertisers, we would be unable to fund the rodeo
and the scholarship program,” Slagle said.
Several levels or sponsorship for rodeo events and
specialty acts are still available. The “main event”
sponsorships are limited, but some still remain. Ro-
deo programs, which include sponsor listings, will
be given out at no charge to attendees.
For more information about the rodeo, or to spon-
sor an event or contribute in another way, contact
Ken or Pam Slagle at (254) 675-1783, or Terence or
Mary Sinderud at 675-8225.
the 18-24 division will also have her en-
try fee paid to the 2007 Miss Waco Pag-
eant.
Registration fee is $50, with the deadline
to register Saturday, July 8. The pageant will
be held Saturday, Aug. 5.

unteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary’s semi-annual

of the department.
The organization’s new cookbook, “From the Fire Into
the Frying Pan, 30th Anniversary Edition,” has been sent*
