CONSERVATORY
From Previous Page
Craig Melde of ArchiTexas, a historic
preservation architectural firm, has been
retained to guide the repairs and restora-
tion. He will also provide the master plan
for the total restoration of the building.
After two years of raising funds to reno-
vate the facilities, the Conservatory
reached its $2.2 million goal. Though
matching grants were obtaine, the bulk
of the funds came from individuals from
Bosque County.
Improvements will include a second
floor art and photography gallery, gift
shop, Tin Building Theatre facilities, a
pottery studio, and more. Hours are Mon-
day - Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Satur-
day, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The Conservatory is listed in “The 100
Best Small Art Towns in America,” by J.
Vanelli. For those who find the arts an im-
portant part of history, the present, and
the future, the Conservatory is an inte-
gral part of Clifton and Bosque County.
The only major fund-raiser for the non-
profit organization is an annual member-
ship drive which culminates in April with
The Big Event. Proceeds from the gala
event, which includes a dinner and auc-
tion, go to maintaining the Conservatory
each year.
Membership, class, or workshop enroll-
ment may normally be obtained by calling
the Conservatory office between the hours
of noon and 5 p.m., Monday through Fri-
day.
However, due to construction starting on
the Olsen Building, the facilities will be
closed until next summer.
The Conservatory is located at 1701 West
9th Street in Clifton. Its mailing address is
PO. Box 373, Clifton, Texas 76634.

Bosque Conservatory
Tin Building Theatre Group
CLIFTON—Nestled in the heart of the
Hill Country, the Tin Building Theatre is
an oasis for any theatre lover. Through-
out its 20-plus-year history, the TBT has
offered more than 80 theatrical produc-
tions.
Housed behind the Bosque Conserva-
tory, (the historic Clifton Lutheran Junior
College building), the Tin Building The-
atre is a unique tin building on the out-
side, while the inside boasts a
state-of-the-art, fully equipped theatre. It
currently (as of mid-June 2006) is under-
going major renovations, along with the
Conservatory itself.
While presentations have been sus-
pended during the renovations, patrons
each year usually enjoy a season filled with
laughter, tears, and great dramatic mo-
ments. An-old fashioned Melodrama and
sing-along on the 4th of July normally ends
the season. In the summer, children from
ages six to 12 participate in our Children’s
Theatre Workshop, which concludes with
a children’s production.
Each season ends with an awards cer-
emony affectionately known as the
“Omars.” The Omars mirror the Tony’s
with awards given to Best Play/Actor/Ac-
tress, etc. The annual membership meet-
ing is conducted in conjunction with the
Omars, at which time new members are
elected to the Board of Directors and offic-
ers are elected to the board.
