Scholarships To Local Students

CLIFTON — Municipal Marketing Manager
of Waste Management of Texas, Inc. Daniel
McBurney was on hand last week to present
recent Clifton ISD graduates Paula Maddy and
Lawren Bosher their scholarship checks.
Bosher, the daughter of Ronnie and LeeAnn
Bosher, was involved in band at Clifton ISD. She
was a finalist at State Marching Competition.
She plans to attend MCC to pursue a career in
the field of pediatric nursing. Bosher received
the Academic Booster and Lindsay Bell Me-
morial scholarships.
“It will be a big help to pay for school,” Bosher
said. “I’m happy to have it.”
Maddy, the daughter of Betty and Larry Maddy.
was a member of the NHS and Student Council,
as well as being actively involved in several other
extracurricular activities. She plans to attend
TSTC and take class in biomedical technologies.
“I was really surprised, but glad to have it,” said
Maddy.
“We’re proud to be able to give back to the com-
munity,” said McBurney. “That’s what we’re
about.”
Class Of ’61 To
Reunite Oct. 13-14
CLIFTON — The 1961 Clifton High School gradu-
ating class is planning a 45th class reunion beginning
Friday, Oct. 13, with the Varsity Cubs Homecoming
Game at Cub Stadium. An after-game social is planned
at the home of Frank and Jean Ann Smith, near the
stadium.
On Saturday, a tour of the Bosque Memorial Mu-
seum and the old high school building, and lunch at
Timeless Treasures Tearoom is planned. Beginning
at 5 p.m., a catered barbecue social will be served at
the home of Larry (Mutt) Benfer. Special entertain-
ment will be provided for the evening. An RSVP and a
$10 donation is requested for the barbecue meal.
“If you were ever a member of the 1949-61 class,
this invitation is extended to you,” said Jean Ann
Smith.
“If you know of someone who might not get this in-
formation please feel free to tell them to join our class
reunion on Oct. 13-14,” added Elaine Bell.

4-H Foods Camp Set
In Meridian July 5-6
MERIDAIN — Bosque County 4-H is sponsor-
ing a Food Camp at the Meridian Civic Center,
on July 5-6, from 9 a m. to 3 p.m. Youth entering
third grade through high school are invited to
particpate.
Participants do not have to be currently en-
rolled in 4-H. “This is a great way to find out about
the 4-H program and have fun, too,” said a pro-
gram spokesman.
Some of the activities will be etiquette, grocery
shopping skills, tours, food safety, soap making,
food preparation, and service. For a community
service project each participant is asked to bring
at least three food items for the food bank.
Space is limited so preregister by calling
County Extension Agent Donna Edwards at the
County Extension Office, at 435-2331, by Friday,
June 30.

CLIFTON—Clifton High School
is requiring all students to register
for the 2006-07 school year. Parents
will be required to attend this with
their student.
“We will be addressing their per-
sonal graduation plans, updating
paperwork, and looking over their
schedules,” said CHS spokesman
Sharon Bergman.
Registration will be held begin-
ning on the following dates:
• Monday, Jul 31 — Seniors, stu-
dents new to the district.
• Tuesday, Aug. 1 — Freshmen.
• Wednesday, Aug. 2 — Sopho-
mores
• Thursday, Aug. 3 — Juniors.. >
Registration times each day are
8:30 to 11:30 a.m., 1:30 to 4:30 p.nC,
and 5:30 to 8 p.m.
“If you have more than one stu-
dent to register, feel free to pick the
day that will work best for you,”
Bergman said. “If you can not make
it on the scheduled day, please try
to come another scheduled day;’
she added.

earned a place on the Dean’s Honor Roll for the spring semester at
Texas State Technical College Waco. c
The Dean’s Honor Roll recognizes the scholastic achievement of
students with a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.9 for the semester. 1
Blassingame is a student in Automotive Technology and Sanders
is a student in Drafting and Design Technology.

Trammell Earns
West Texas A&M
Dean’s List Honor
CANYON — Evan D. Trammell
of Clifton was among more than 800
students named to honor lists for
the spring 2006 semester at West
Texas A&M University. Of that, 289
were named to the President’s List.
Trammell was one of 588 students
named to the Dean’s List, where
sutdents have a grade-point aver-
age between 3.5 and 3.99.

and earned a Bachelor of Science
degree in Neuroscience from Texas
Christian University in Fort Worth.
He also completed post-baccalau-
