Bosque County Collection Stores
Documented History In Meridian
MERIDIAN — Recently relocated in
the historic Lumpkin Building on the
courthouse square in Meridian, the
Bosque County Historical Commissions’
Collection stores the documented history
ofBosque County for future generations.
The Collection was established in 1983
as a research center with the mission to
collect and preserve historic as well as
current materials about the county in or-
der to make them readily available to re-
searchers.
Using the Texas Collection at Baylor
University as its model, the local Collec-
tion has saved and is saving irreplace-
able historical materials pertaining to the
county that were not and are not being
saved by any other organization or en-
tity.
After existing on the third floor of the
Bosque County Courthouse since 1983,
the Collection purchased the Lumpkin
Building in 1992. After several fund-rais-
ing events, many individual donations,

the current chairman of the Commission,
having taken the reigns of long-time

by the County as a full-time archivist,
which allowed the collection to remain
open five days a week. Brandt brings with
her many years of experience in customer
service, accounting, and record keeping.
The Commission recently hosted the
18th annual Preservation Luncheon.
These fund-raisers are held each spring
to honor historic buildings throughout the
county.
