Recovered Pickup Could
Lead To Multiple Arrests

ASSOCIATE EDITOR
^MERIDIAN — The recovery of a
stfiien, stripped pickup off County
Road 1100 east of Meridian could
lead to several arrests, according
to Bosque County Sheriff’s Depart-
ment Chief Deputy Mike Mabry.
. Around 11 a.m. Friday, June 2,
Deputy David Pack received infor-
mation concerning the location of
the stolen vehicle.
. 'Arriving at the scene, he ob-
served a vehicle partially matching
the description, although the
pickup had been stripped of its en-
gine, bed, doors, and other parts.
Deputy Pack took photos, then
contacted a motor vehicle theft
agent with the Texas Department
of Public Safety, who was able to
locate an identification number on
the vehicle.
A check through the computer
system revealed the truck had been
reported stolen on Feb. 5, out of
Haltom City. The vehicle was seized
and towed from the scene.
During the ensuing investigation,
Pack learned the vehicle was taken
to* the property to be stripped, al-
though the actual property owner
has been cleared of any involve-
ment.
- Several subjects have been iden-
tified, and other Metroplex agen-
cies have joined in the
investigation, with several arrested
reported likely.
Bad Bucks
On Sunday, June 11, Deputy Lu-
cas Speer was contacted by an in-
dividual in Morgan who believed
was in possession of a counterfeit
$100 bill.
“The investigation has revealed
a couple of individuals could be in-
volved in making, or at least distrib-
uting, counterfeit money in the
Morgan area and surrounding
counties,” said Chief Deputy Mike
Mabty
The bill was turned over to the
U.S. Secret Service, which is con-
ducting the investigation.
“We want to warn our area busi-
nesses that whenever they receive
a $100 bill, they should always take
a few extra steps to make sure it is
legitimate,” Mabry said.
House Entry
On Tuesday, June 13, Deputy
Joey Brooks was called to a resi-
dence off FM 174 in the Kopperl
area.
An area resident was checking
his mother’s home and noticed a
door slightly ajar. Concerned about
entering, he contacted the sheriff’s
department.
Deputy Brooks entered the
house, which appeared to be se-
cure. The deputy could not find any
explanation as to why the door was
not locked, as there was no evi-
dence of criminal activity.
family Violence Call Results In
Arrest On Outstanding Warrant
By David Anderson

1 MERIDIAN — At about 9:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 15, the Bosque
County Sheriff’s Department re-
ceived a call concerning family vio-
lence at a residence on County
Road 1281 in the Lakeside Village
Area.
' ■“A woman called and said her
husband had assaulted her, had
poured marijuana all over their
btedroom, had a shotgun he was
loading, and said he warned the
deputies to be careful when they
arrived,” Chief Deputy Mike Mabry
said.
| Deputies Lance Barner, Andy Sa-
dler, and Lucas Speer all re-
sponded, and were en route when
another 9-1-1 call came in, this time
from the husband, claiming his wife
had assaulted him.
“He wanted to know if he should
stay or if he could leave, and we ad-
vised him to remain on the pre-
mised,” Mabry explained. “He was
asked not to have a shotgun in his
hand when the deputies arrived,
and he replied he did not have a
shotgun.”
Mabry said that a later search of
the premised did not reveal a shot-
gun, and that no evidence showed
either party had been assaulted. He
said there was a trace amount of
marijuana found in the bedroom.
During the investigation, how-
ever, the deputies learned the fe-
male subject had an outstanding
warrant out of Bosque County.
Starlynn Kay Riha was placed
under arrested and transported to
the county jail under the warrant
charging issuance of a bad check.
Special Delivery Threat
Mid-afternoon Thursday, June
15, Deputy Jeff Hightower re-
sponded to a terroristic threat be-
ing made at the Laguna Park Post
Office.
“A customer in the lobby was ap-
parently unhappy, and made some
threatening remarks to the post-
master and clerk,” Chief Mabry ex-
plained. “The postmaster, who
knew the individual, took the abuse
for a time before calling the
sheriff’s office.”
Mabry said the individual left af-
ter being notified the sheriff’s de-
partment had been called, but
charges could be filed if the ensu-
ing investigation warrants.
Traffic Stop Reveals
Outstanding Warrant
Shortly before 6 p.m. Wednesday,
June 14, Deputy Barner was on rou-
tine patrol on Highway 6 when he
stopped a vehicle for a minor traf-
fic violation.
While interviewing the driver, he
ran a check on her driver’s license,
which revealed an outstanding war-
rant out of Val Verde County.
Sophie Deeanna Del Bosque
was placed under arrested and
transported to the county jail,
charged on the warrant’s motion
to revoke probation on an original
conviction of forgery of a financial
instrument.

MERIDIAN — The Bosque
County Sheriff’s Department’s
home on the World Wide Web has
gone worldwide, indeed.
Sometime within the past month,
Ingo Gillmann, a lieutenant with
the German State Police in
Schwanewede, was surfing the Web
and surfed into the department’s
website
<www.bosquesheriff.com >.
Gillmann was impressed with the
site, and e-mailed Chief Deputy
Mike Mabry.
“Officer Gillmann said his de-
partments, like so many do, collect
patches, and asked if we’d send him
one,” Mabry told The Clifton
Record. Mabty said he was skepti-
cal, at first, since you don’t really
know who is behind an e-mail be-
ing sent. Mabry said he chose not
to respond immediately.
However, within a few days, Lt.
Gillmann sent Mabry more infor-
mation, including complete contact
details of his department in Ger-
Bosque County’s

Missing Person Case
Takes Unusual Twists
A POLICE OFFICER IN THE MUNICIPALITY OF SCHWANEWEDE, Ger-
many, recently contacted Chief Deputy Mike Mabry after coming across
the Bosque County Sheriff’s Department's website while surfing the
World Wide Web. The two departments continue to correspond and are
exchanging patches for their collections.
Sheriff’s Department Website
Gets Hit From German Officer
many.
“He even e-mailed me a copy of
his department ID to put me at
ease,” Mabry said.
That began a conversation via e-
mail between the two. Mabry said
Gillmann told him the main prob-
lems his department deals with in
Germany are drug-related, includ-
ing gangs from Turkey, Libya, and
other countries in the Middle East.
“They deal with a lot of the same
crimes we do — car thefts, burglar-
ies. Lt. Gilmman specialized in in-
vestigating fraud on E-Bay,” Mabry
explained.
Chief Mabry said he sent a de-
partment patch and some bumper
stickers to Gillmann in
Schwanewede, a village and a mu-
nicipality in the district of
Osterholz, in Lower Saxony, Ger-
many. He expects a patch from
Gillmann’s department soon, which
will be displayed with the
department’s collection in the foyer
of the jail facility in Meridian.
“Our website has gone global,”
Chief Mabry concluded with a grin.

MERIDIAN — On Sunday, June
4, Crowley Police Department offi-
cials were contacted by a woman
who reported her husband was
missing. She said her husband had
left earlier that day, claiming to be
headed to Lake Whitney to ride a
personal watercraft. When he had
not returned later than evening,
she became concerned, and re-
ported him as missing.
On Monday, June 5, area depart-
ments, including the Bosque
County Sheriff’s Department,
were notified of the missing per-
son report on Bryan Curtis
Roberson.
That evening, residents at the
lake were walking on Corps of En-
gineers Property when they no-
ticed a pickup parked in some
brush.
“They thought things looked a
little suspicious,” said Chief
Deputy Mike Mabry. “They could
see no one around, so they con-
tacted our department.”
Deputies Jeff Hightower and
Jeff Schasteen responded, and
ran the license plate, which came
back linked to the missing
Roberson.
A search of the area provided no
clues to foul play, but several large
marijuana plants were discovered
growing in the area.
On Tuesday, the Texas Rangers
were notified, and two Crowley de-
tectives arrived at the scene,
along with BCSD Detective
Darren Artzt. Two search dog
teams from the Texas Depart-
ment of Criminal Justice were
also summoned to the site.
Mabry said clothing from Rob-
erson was used to allow the dogs
to pick up his scent, which led of-
ficers down a trail that eventually
ended at a county road. There
they found evidence of the foot-
prints ended, and tire tracks con-
tinued. The officers agreed it
appeared Roberson got into an-
other vehicle at that location.
Witnessed gave officers a de-
scription of a vehicle that had
been seen in that area, and the
Rangers interviewed Mrs.
Roberson. Relatives from out-of-
state were contacted, and Rang-
ers paid them a visit for
interviews as well. Based on infor-
mation obtained, Mabry said, the
officers began to believe foul play
could be involved.
However, on Friday, June 9,
Roberson arrived home, and re-
ported in at the Crowley Police
Department. He told the officers
that he and his wife have severe
financial difficulties and other
personal issues.
“He said he thought if he just
disappeared, his problems would
go away,” Chief Mabry explained.
“However, that just created more
problems for him. With all the
agencies that were involved —
Texas Parks and Wildlife game
wardens, the Crowley Police De-
partment, Bosque and Hill County
Sheriff’s Departments, the Texas
Rangers, the TDCJ dog teams —
there were a lot of man-hours
wasted on this investigation.”
Mabry added that the mari-
juana plants were uprooted and
confiscated during the investiga-
tion. As of last Friday, no charges
had been filed against Roberson.
of a controlled substance (less than one
gram). Wanted since Feb. 26, 2004.

known address in Clifton, wanted for
criminal non-support, failure to appear,
contempt of court. Wanted since Feb. 2
and March 9, 2005.
#9) GONZALO GONZALES: White
male, born 1984, 57", 150 lbs., last
known address in Clifton, wanted on
charges of failure to appear and evading
arrest with a vehicle. Wanted since March
14, 2005.
#10) RONNIE LYNN PARKHILL: White
male, born 1942, 5'8”, 184 lbs., last
known address in Clifton, wanted for
