Annual Clifton Firemen’s Ball To
Ring In New Year’s At The Armory’

CLIFTON - The “Cadillac Cow-
boys” will return to Clifton to help
greet the New Year on Sunday, Dec.
31, at the annual Clifton Volunteer
Fire Department Firemen’s Ball.
The event is slated for 8 p.m. to 12
midnight at The Armory in Clifton
City Park. The annual ball, spon-
sored by the department, is the
fund-raiser from vyhich funding is
obtained to purchase much of the
department’s new equipment.
The group, a progressive coun-
try band based in Glen Rose, will
perform the latest in Country-West-
ern and Rock-and-Roll. Band
leader Eric Kirkland said the event
will be the New Year’s Eve party of
a lifetime, and it is going to be hap
pening in Clifton. The group played
to a packed house at last year’s
event.
Tickets for this year’s dance are
$10 each, and will be available for
purchase in advance at T’s Audio
in Clifton, or from any fireman.
THE CADILLAC COWBOYS, a popular band based in Glen Rose, will
return to Clifton to perform at the annual Volunteer Fire Department
Firemen’s Ball. The dance will be held Sunday, Dec. 31, from 8 p.m. to 12
midnight, at The Armory in Clifton City Park. Cadillac Cowboys played
last year's firemen's dance, and have been invited back by popular de-
mand.
Party favors — including hats and
noisemakers — and refreshments
are included in the cost of the
dance ticket. Tickets will also be
available at the door.
Raffle tickets are also being sold
by the department, with two prizes
offered — a remote-control cable-
ready color television, and a special
prize valued at $100. Drawings for
winners of both prizes will be held

American Legion Slates New Year’s Eve Party
CLIFTON — The American Le-
gion Post and Auxiliary in Clifton
will host a New Year’s Eve Party on
Dec. 31, at the Post Home. Mem
bers and invited guests are urged
to attend.
Everyone is asked to bring
snacks. Blackeyed peas,
cornbread, and cabbage will be
served
A stereo will be set up for.,-
everyone’s dancing pleasure, and if
anyone has a favorite cassette or
CD they are encouraged to bring it
to the party.

West Shore VFD New Year’s Dance
LAGUNA PARK - “Have you

pokesman for the West Shore
’olunteer Fire Department’s
Ladies’ Auxiliary. The Auxiliary
will celebrate the new year with
^a New Year's Eve dance featur-
r ing the tunes of “Country Class."
“Please join us at West Shore
VFD in celebrating the new year
and supporting your fire depart-
ment,” the spokesman continued.
The dance will be held at the de
partment, located on Shore Acres
Drive in Laguna Park.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the
band will begin playing at 8 p.m.
Featured will be old traditional
country tunes, country songs
from the 50s and 60s, waltzes,
two-step, and Western swing. The
band plans to play until sometime
after midnight.

CLIFTON - The annual Cub
and Lady Cub Christmas Invita
tional Tournaments got under way
Thursday with 18 games on the
slate. The tournament features 16
boys’ varsity teams plus 16 girls'
varsity teams, with the field of com
petition thought to be the strongest
yet in the annual tourneys.
Games will continue Friday and
Saturday in both the Clifton High
School and Clifton Middle School
gymnasiums. The tournament is
set to wrap up Saturday night with
the girls' championship at 6:30 p.m.,
followed by the boys' title game at
8 p.m.
Both games will be held in the
high school gym.
