Former Alderman Anderson
Files For City Council Post
CLIFTON—David Anderson, 49,
an associate editor with The Clif-
ton Record, filed Monday as a can-
didate for the City Council.
Three two-year seats on the City
Council will be up for election in the
Saturday, May 13, balloting, as Al-
dermen Thiele, Kelly Ross, and
Robert Garza complete their first
two-year terms. Ross and Thiele
have also filed as candidates.
Anderson served as an alderman
on the City Council for two two-year
terms, first being elected in 2000,
then again in 2004. He did not run
when his second term concluded in
May 2004.
If no one files as a write-in candi-
date by 5 p.m. Monday, March 20,
no election will be necessary, and
the three candidates will be seated
on the Council in May.

Famed ‘Road Kill Cooking Team’
CLIFTON—“Are you tired of eating the same old burgers, burritos,
and buffets? If so, mark your calendar for Friday, March 24, and come
on down to American Legion Post #322,” said Patrick Wilson.
After a brief hiatus, the ever-popular “Road Kill Cooking Team”
will be back in action, serving up their “world renowned secret recipe”
fried catfish with all the fresh, homemade fixings.
Cost of the all-you-can-eat meal is $8 per person, and serving will
begin at 6 p.m. at the post home in Clifton City Park.

In addition, airmen who complete
basic training earn credits toward
an associate degree through the
Community College of the Air
Force.
Decker is the son of Tony Decker
of Garland. His grandmother, Carol
Williams, resides near Whitney. In
2005, the airman graduated from
Whitney High School.

Fry March 31st
CLIFTON — Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post #8553, Clifton, will hold a
“Fifth Friday Fish Fry” starting at
5:30 p.m. Friday, March 31.
“Everyone is welcome to attend,”
said a post spokesman. Finds raised
from the Friday evening meals ben-
efit community projects of the post.
Cost of the meal is $6, with pre-
school-age children eating free.

North Avenue D in downtown Clifton.

Chapter To Host
Banquet, Dance
CLIFTON — The Bosque
County Chapter of Ducks Un-
limited will host a dinner-and-
dance fund-raiser Saturday,
March 25, in The Armory at Clif-
ton City Park. In addition to the
meal and live entertainment by
the Steve Helms Band (9 p.m.),
silent and live auctions and a
raffle will be held, and door
prizes will be awarded during
the evening.
Tickets are priced at $40 per
person or $50 per couple, and
tickets include admission, mem-
bership in DU, a chance to win
door prizes, and more. The gath-
ering is a “bring your own
bottle” event. Tickets are avail-
able at Keith’s Ace Hardware in
Clifton.
The catered meal will feature
steak, baked potato, salad, des-
sert, and shrimp appetizers.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m., with the
meal served at 6:30 p.m.
