LIVINGSTON - Four people
were injured Saturday in two sepa-
rate one-vehicle accidents, according
to the Texas Highway Patrol.
Three of the injured were in a
1999 Ford pickup truck that ran off
Hwy. 146, 2.4 miles south of Liv-
ingston. The accident occurred at
8:25 p.m.
Terry Cagle Burns, 33, of Liv-
ingston was driving the pickup
truck southbound when an un-
known northbound vehicle came
over; onto the center stripe, the
driver told Trooper Lany Pius.
Bums moved slightly and lost con-
trol ef the vehicle, which went off
the »de of the road and struck a
tree, (he trooper indicated.
Bums, who was listed with non-
incapacitating injuries, and two
children in the pickup truck, ages 9
and (2, were taken by ambulance to
Meiqorial Medical Center - Liv-
mgstpn The 9-year-old was listed
as hiving sustained incapacitating
injuries and the 12-year-old was
listed with possible injuries.
No charges were filed
Al$o investigated Saturday was a
one-vehicle accident at approxi-
mately 4:30 a.m. on FM 942 at
Galldway Road.
Nathan Dale Williams, 34, was
driving a 1998 Ford Aerostar van
eastbfound on FM 942 and failed to
negotiate a right-hand curve, accord-
ing tt> Trooper Kevin Burman. The
van left the road on the south side
and struck a tree head-on The
driver, who was listed as having
sustained non-incapacitating inju-
ries, left the scene and reported the
accident later, the trooper indicated.
Williams was cited for unsafe
speed, no liability insurance and no
seat belt.
One person sustained possible in-
juries in a one-vehicle accident at
10:15 p.m. Friday on U.S. 59 in
Goodrich.
A 19% Kia driven by Leslie
Renee Thomas, 25, of Shepherd
was northbound in the right lane
when an unknown vehicle passed
and an item flew into the Kia’s
windshield breaking the glass, ac-
cording to Pitts. Thomas was in-
jured when she slammed on the
brakes.
She was taken to the Livingston
hospital by private vehicle.
No charges were filed.
Local highway patrol troopers
investigated three separate one-
vehicle injury accidents on Thurs-
day, Dec. 6.
The first occurred at 3:55 p.m. on
Drews Landing Road, 4.9 miles
east of Goodrich. A 1989 Ford Tau-
rus station wagon driven by Berta.
Louise Fox, 45, of Splendora was
southbound when the driver lost
control and the car went off the left
side of the road and struck a light
pole, according to a report filed by
Pitts.
Fox, who was listed as having
sustained non-incapacitating inju-
ries, was taken by ambulance to
Memorial Medical Center ~ Liv-
ingston. She was charged with
DWI, no seat belt and no insurance.
At 10:09 p.m. last Thursday
Pitts was called to a one-car acci-
dent on Nettles Cemetery Road, 4.7
miles east of Livingston.
A 1985 Ford Tempo driven by
Wesley Eugene Davis, 41, of
Shepherd was northbound, fleeing a
police officer, when he lost control
of the car, Pitts said. The car went
into a ditch, overturned and then
slid into the middle of the road.
Davis was listed as having sus-
tained possible injuries, but was
not transported by ambulance. He
was charged with no 'driver’s li-
cense, no liability insurance and no
seat belt.
A few minutes later, at 10:15
p.m., there was a one-vehicle acci-
dent on Lure Road at Old Dal-
lardsville Road, both county roads
5.5 miles south of Livingston.
A 1991 Ford pickup truck driven
by Gregory Gene Ruffin, 42, of
Onalaska was westbound on Lure
Road and went into a ditch as the
driver attempted to turn northbound
onto Old Dallardsville Road, accord-
ing to Pitts.
Listed as having sustained possi-
ble injuries, Ruffin was transported
by ambulance to the Livingston
hospital.
No charges were filed.

Mable Bearden Warren
LIVINGSTON -- Funeral services
for Lyda Bell Deakins, 75, were
held Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001,
from the Cochran Funeral Home
Chapel, with Bro. Frank Cady offi-
ciating. Interment followed in Big
Sandy Cemetery in Dallardsville.
Mrs. Deakins died Sunday, Dec.
9, in Lufkin Memorial Hospital.
She was bom Sept. 17, 1926 in
Ace, the daughter of Polk and Dora
Kelly Moore. She was preceded in
death by her husband Clarence and
her parents.
Survivors include her sister and
brother-in-law, Pauline and Nathan
Hendrix of Livingston; brother and
sister-in-law, Billy and Beverly
Moore of Livingston; nephews and
wives, James “Connie” and Pam
Moore of Lufkin, DeLynn and Ter-
esa Hendrix of Livingston and Joel
and Kim Moore of Livingston;
niece and husband. Julie and Rob
Adams of Houston;; and niece.
Karen Welham of Houston.
Pallbearers were Billy Hendrix.
Nathan DeLynn Jr., Nathan De-
Lynn Sr., Joel Moore, Robin
Adams and James “Connie” Moore.
Honorary pallbearer was Dr. L.G.
Burton, M.D.

LUFKIN - Graveside services for
Mable Beatden Warren, 74, of
Lufkin were held Monday. Dec. 10,
2001, from Ryan Chapel Cemetery,
with Preacher Hershel Bearden offi-
ciating.
Mrs. Warren was bom on Oct.
21, 1927 in Yantis, Wood County,
to the late Arvis Willie and Susie
Alezebeth Bearden, and died on Fri-
day, Dec. 7, in a Lufkin hospital
She resided in the Lufkin-
Corrigan-Diboll area for most of
her life. She was employed by Pil- .
grims Pride.
Survivors include her daughter
and son-in-law, Dorothy and Roy
Bullock of Center; son and daugh-
ter-in-law, Martin “David" and
Ethelene Mellard of Huntington;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Fdgar
“Pete” and Barbara Bearden of Di-
boll anti W.J. and Veda Bearden of
Diboll; sister, Glenda Langston of
Comgan; sister and brother-in-law,
Barbara and Homer Roberts of Dal-
las; and a number of grandchildren,
great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews
Mrs. Warren was preceded in
death by her son, Hubert Sims, and
her sister, Lorene Gordon.

Roy Lee Hopson
LIVINGSTON - Graveside serv-
ices for Thomas Todd Honeycutt,
71, were held Sunday, Dec. 9,
2001, from Mt. Zion Cemetery in
Point Blank.
Mr. Honeycutt died on Friday,
Dec. 7, at his residence in Cold-
spring.
He was bom April 4, 1930 in
Guion, the $on of L.P. and Mary
Todd Honeycutt, both of whom
preceded him in death. He graduated
from Aqua Duke High School and
served in the U.S. Army, enlisting
on April 4, 1951 and being dis-
charged on March 30,1953.
Survivors include his wife.
Janice; daughters, Roxanne Honey-
cutt of North Carolina and Vanessa
Honeycutt of Huntsville; sons,
Gregory Smith of Coldspring,
Shelby Smith of Channelview,
ToJo Smith of Kenedy, Stan Pro-
vost Jr. of Channelview and Rusty
Provost of Coldspring; 13 grand-
children; seven great-grandchildren
and a host of other relatives and
friends.

Shelby Smith, Stan Provost Jr.,
Rusty Provost, Eric Smith and Rod
Walker

Robert E. Cave
POINT BLANK - Robert E.
Cave, who served as pastor of Point
Blank Community Church from
1990 to 1999, died on Dec. 9,
2001, after a brief illness.
He is survived by his wife, Clara
Leet Cave, of Springfield, Ohio;
sons, Robert Michael and Roger
Alan; daughters, Linda Ann, Cathy
Lynn and Karen Jennice Carter; and
six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on
Friday, Dec. 14, from Jones-Eden
Funeral Home in Washington,
Iowa.
LUFKIN - Funeral services for
Roy Lee Hopson, 45, of Comgan
were held Wednesday, Dec. 12,
2001, from Concord Baptist
Church, with the Rev Phil Corbett
officiating Interment followed in
Concord Cemetery in Zavalla.
Mr. Hopson was born on Nov.
26, 1956 in Jasper, the son of Mar-
lee H and Lois Miller Hopson, and
died on Sunday, Dec. 9, in Lufkin
He was a member of the Assem-
blies of God and was a drywall con-
tractor, having been employed by
Hopson Paint and Drywall Co.
Survivors include his wife, Lori,
of Corrigan; daughter, Tabitha
Hopson and son, Roy Jackson
Hopson, both of Corrigan; mother,
Lois Hopson of Jacksonville;
brother and sister-in-law, M.H. and
Tammy Hopson of Moscow; sister
and brothers-in-law, Nora and
Denny George of Jacksonville and
Bobby Leonard of Lufkin; father-in-
law and mother-in-law. Jack and
Bennie Pate of Comgan; brother-in-
law and fnend. Skipper Pate and
Vicki Harrison of Moscow, sister-
in-law and brother-in-law, Sheri and
Ronnie Thompson of Moscow; and
numerous nieces, nephews and
friends.

Bobby Madden, Rocky Madden,
Dubby Madden, Lary Lahmon, Stan
Holtz, Dale Carson, David Karnes,
Tim Sims, Troy Cook, Ron Leon-
ard, Danny White, Jeff Stanley and

ers were Gilmore Cox, Roy Zander,
Danny Drummond, Michael Tant,
Marvin Allen, Mike Cantrell, Lee
Shaw and D.B. Gilbert.
