Hunting, fishing show set
Hunting and fishing are popular
sports for many in the community.
For the first time in Pedigo Park,
the Lake Livingston Area Tourism
Council will host a Hunting and
Fishing Show on Saturday, Oct. 5.
The council has worked hard to
put together a great show for young
and old alike. There will be over 60
booths of vendors and exhibitors on
hand to please each sportsman. The
council will continue to accept
vendors until the show date. Per-
sons wishing to display or sell any-
thing related to sportsmen may call
the council. Even used TVs, four
wheelers, campers and such will be
welcome at the show.
There will be plenty of food and
drinks on Saturday also. There will
be several concessionaires serving
barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers
and fried catfish. Soft drinks will
be available to stay cool.
Entertainment for the visitors
will include a cake walk with
home-made goodies from locals.
There will be a casting contest to
show off your skills with a rod and
reel. Hourly door prizes will be
drawn for everyone at the event.
Guided fish trips and private fish
fry or BBQ suppers are just some
of the prizes.
Pro Bass fisherman Chris
Wilkerson will be on hand to show
off his Ranger Pro model boat dur-
ing the day. He will also be con-
ducting informational seminars
about how to become a profes-
sional angler and be willing to an-
swer questions from the crowd.
Bring the whole family to the
Trade Days area to enjoy this fun
and exciting new event at Pedigo
Park. Admission will be S2 per car
load.
Other October events
Trade Days will be held at
Pedigo Park on Oct. 18, 19 and 20.
Vendors will be here to show off
their best stuff for your Christmas
shopping needs. It’s never too early
to get some shopping done for the
busy holiday season.

Today, more than 4,000 Farmers agents and employees are proud to
call Texas home. Many of their families have served Farmers in Texas
for generations. On behalf of these dedicated professionals, Farm
ers® insurance deeply regrets that we can no longer serve the state's
homeowners insurance customers. True to our 50 year commitment
to the state, we have worked very hard to maintain an open
homeowners market for Texas residents, even while many other com-
panies have stopped writing new business entirely. We apologize for
any disruption this may cause.
However, the demands being placed on us by the Texas Department
of Insurance are impossible for us to comply with, and would, ulti-
mately, ruin our ability to serve our customers. In the interests of all
customers who rely on Farmers for their insurance needs, we cannot
let that happen. Please consider these facts:
> In the past two and a half years, Farmers losses in Texas from
homeowners insurance.alone have exceeded $1.3 billion.
> Texas is the only state in the country that we would truly call a
crisis. In fact, in most states our homeowners business is profit-
able - as it should be for any business to stay open.
> The rates and type of policies we have established this year would
allow us to remain in business here, but the Texas Department of
insurance is demanding we do business in ways we cannot ac-
cept.
► Most companies have simply withdrawn from or severely restricted
their homeowners business in Texas. Yet, we have worked hard to i |
stay in the market. And our loyal customers have stayed with us.
> For 50 years, Farmers has delivered on its commitment to help
Texans get back where they belong after a home, auto, business
loss, or the death of a loved one. During those years we have paid
tens of billions of dollars in claims to the good people of Texas.
> This decision is as difficult for our Texas agents and employees as
it will be for our customers. Farmers agents will continue to pro-
vide auto, small business, life, financial services and other lines
of business Texans have come to enjoy from us. We simply can't
allow the state to force our customers to accept the financial' insta-
bility that would come from conducting homeowners business in
an unsound manner.
Because we are committed to the state of Texas, we will continue to
work toward our goal of a healthy homeowners market and hope to
be insuring Texas homes again as soon as a reasonable solution can
be found.
