guest speaker.
Dr. Holder spoke to the group
ncerning the -molnths he spent
Korea as a member of the Medi-
cal Corps of the United States
Navy. He described the living con-
ditions of the Korean people and
told what the American soldiers
were doing to help the people of
that country. Dr. Holder pointed
out, however, that the United States
Armed Forces had not gained the
respect of the Koreans as they
“l^d mainly because of the ae-
ons of a few individuals in the
service. ■» '

MRS. MEYER GIVES
BRIDGE-LUNCHEON
At 12:30 o’clock on Tuesday af-
ternoon, December 7, Mrs. Walter
J. Meyer, of Clifton, entertained
with a bridge-luncheon for a num-
ber of ladies from this city at the
Ridgewood Country Club in Waco.
The following delicious dishes
were included on the luncheon
menu:
Avocado and Grapefruit Salad
Holland Porkloin With Pineapple
Finers, Apricot Glaze
Susiqu Potatoes Green Asparagus
Red Crab Apple Garnish
Hot Rolls
Coffee Tea
Strawberry Sundae
During the courtesy the Christ-
mas motif was used to advantage
in the decorations, and the lunch-
eon table was centered with a love-
ly Christmas arrangement which
feature^ red carnations.
t At the conclusion of the lunch-
eon four enjoyable games of bridge
were played after which high store
was awarded to Mrs. F. T. McCol-
lum, second high to Mrs, E. H.
Schow, and the traveling prizes for
being, the- last partners to bid and
to make a slam during the games
to Mesdames E. E. Stewart and
Hulen C. Aars.
Present for the delightful lunch-
eon and bridge were Mesdames Mc-
Collum, Schow, Stewart, Aars, Rob-
ert L. Baldridge, Robert Baldridge
Jr., J. Bruce Parks, W. T. Thomp-

of Route 1, Meridian, whose 42nd
wedding anniversary occurred on
that day.

Sammy joe willis, son of Mr.
and Mrs. George A. Willis, of 404
East White Avenue in San Antonio,
is pictured above.
Young Willis, a 1952 graduate of
Clifton High School, recently com-
pleted his eight weeks of basic
training in the United States Army
at. Fort Bliss, near El Paso, and
has been sent to Ford Ord, Cali-
fornia, where he will undergo ad-
vanced infantry training.
The' young man’s mother is the
former Miss Ann Oswald, a sister
of Sam M. -Oswald, Mrs. Ben Lane-
hart, and Mrs. Henry Brynie, of
Clifton.

relatives. The Carl Olsens went oft
from Clifton to Dallas and came
