Joyce Brasher and David Ash-
craft of Dallas were united in mar-
riage in a ceremony performed at
8:00 o’clock in Mosheim last Fri-
day night. The bride is a daugh-
t?r of Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Brasher,
and the groom’s parents are Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Ashcraft of Troy.
The couple will make their home
in Dallas.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mac Gresham
and Mike and Mrs. Clark Jenson of
Waco visited Dr. and Mrs. W. W.
Blankenship Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Jess Simmons were
here over the week-end and moved
their.furniture to La Porte, where
they will make their home. Mr. and
Mrs. Simmons have been in La
Porte several months.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Jones of Fort
Worth spent the week-end here at
the home of her sister and family,
Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Henry, and
other relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brasher of
Dallas and Mrs. A1 Graham of Fort
Worth were here Friday to attend
the wedding of their niece, Joyce
Brasher.
Mrs. Maurice Beckham and a
girl friend of Waco spent the week-
end here with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Perry Mathews.
Mr. and Mrs. Van Gary of Katy
spent several days last week visit-
ing in the home of her sister and
family, Reverend and Mrs. H. V.
Southerland and Connie.
Mrs. James Harris, Mrs. Buster
Vickrey, and Mrs. Minnie Alice
Callan were in Waco one day last

A former resident near Clifton,
Mrs. F. C. Helms, aged 77, of 6102
Wallisville Road in Houston, died
at 5:15 o’clock on Wednesday
morning, December 1, in Saint
Joseph’s Hospital in tfyat city. Mrs.
Helms was a sister-in-law of Charlie
Helms, of Route 1/ Clifton.

made theiryhome for a few years
in the Garnersville community
northeast of Clifton during which
time they made many friends who
sincerely regret to learn of her
death.
A native of Columbus, Mrs,
Helms had lived in Houston fo4 the
past 29 years. Her husband ope-
rates Helms’ Grocery at their Wall-
isville Road address.
Mrs. Floyd Vickrey of Clifton
and Miss Stella Vickrey were in
Waco on Monday.

en, of Belton, where Mr. Elder

Mrs. Herman Barrs of NTSC, Den-
ton, where Mr. Barrs is a senior

VENEZUELANS VISIT MERIDIAN
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Hamm, of
Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela, were
the guests in Meridian last week-
end of Mr. and Mrs. Luther R.
Jones and accompanied Mr. and
Mrs. Jones to Clifton last Saturday
to attend the Methodist Bazaar and
Turkey Dinner in the City Hall
dining room. Mr. Hamm is office
manager for the Venezuela Refin-
ing Company in Venezuela, and he
and Mrs. Hamm were neighbors
of the Jones family when the lat-
ter lived in Venezuela. This trip
was-their first to Texas. Mr. and
Mrs. Hamm left Meridian Monday
to spend two weeks in Atlanta,
Georgia, and the remainder of their
vacation in Miami, Florida. They
will return to Venezuela January
22 to spend another two years.
