C. A. Sneed of. Meridian seeded
6 acres to K. R. bluestem. Sneed
prepared his land with a tandem
disc and drilled his seed.
Oscar Gates and G. S. Aanenson
of the Turkey Creek Conservation
group each seeded a plot to K. R.
bluestem.
Most of the vetch seeding* ob-
served are making good growth.
W. K. Randy, of Brazos Point has
an excellent crop on some badly
gullied sand that has been out of
cultivation for several years. Al-
vin Bradin, also of Brazos Point,
has good cover crops of vetch and
peas. These were seeded somewhat
later but have made satisfactory
growth.
Many farmers plan to save their
vetch for seed. To produce the
largest amount of seed possible,
bees will aid in the pollination.
Cases have been recorded where
good amounts of bees increased the
seed yield several hundred pounds
per acre. It is suggested that co-
operators growing vetch contact
beekeepers to secure sufficient bees
for pollination. If bees are not avail-
able locally, an effort will be made
to locate transient beekeepers so
that you might contact them.

Letters From Readers
Lisbon, Ohio
Dear Editor:
Something pretty drastic has just
happened, and if you look where I
did you will see the same. My sub-
scription for your good paper has
terminated and that can’t happen
to me, for I enjoy reading it so
much—so please chalk me up for
another year of good reading. I
look forward every Monday for
your paper, and if I didn’t get it,
well, it would seem to me that
something was wrong—just me
alone, away up here from Texas
could get awfully lonesome, but
with your paper coming, brings all
the news of old friends, so then I
feel like they are here too, so keep
bringing them to me through your
news items and perhaps I can stick
it out here for another twelve
months—I sound pretty low don’t
I ? Well, it isn’t quite that bad—for
I like sunny Ohio very much espec-
ially in Winter time (I don’t think)
for the weather can get pretty bad
at times, with sleet, snow, and zero
weather—sometimes it is 5 to 10
below.
However, the spring and summer
months are really nice, with tem-
pertures ranging from 75 to 90,
some days—and that reminds me
of an incident that I tried last sum-
mer—you know that good vege-
table “Texas Okra,” well I like
it so well that I planted some in
the garden and it made out real
well. Everyone that saw it grow-
ing wanted to know what kind of
flower it was, and of course I got
quite a kick out of it, especially
when my wife would prepare some
of it for dinner, and everyone would
rave bow delicious it was. So that
