Despite Stormy Weather

Rain, drittls, and
atronc winde almoat
caused the cancellation
of the Cub A Cubette
Relays laat Saturday at
(tab Stadium, and did
bring about a change in
the schedule of the fi-
nals, but the relays ware
completed and were
again a big success.
The afternoon prelim-
inary running events and
the night finals were
consolidated into an af-
ternoon track meet, with
all events run and results
announced by 6:4fi p,m.
This was fortunate as a
hard rain soon reached
the area.
Fifteen teams compet-
ed in four divisions—
Blum, Chilton, Clifton,
Cranfills Cap, Frost,
Qlen Rose, Orandview,
Itasca, Meridian, Rio
Vista, Valley Mills,
West, Whitney, Godley,
and Reicher.
The four divisiona and
winning team in each
were( (1) Boys varsity
division—CUfton, (2)
boys junior varsity divi-
sion—Whitney, (8) girls
varsity division—Whit-
ney, and (4) girls junior
varsity division-Rio
Vista. The Clifton girls
were leading in the var-
sity meet until they had
the misfortune to miss on
the baton pass in the last
race.
Winning trophies for
first place in the relay
events were the follow-
ing schools: girls junior
varsity-440 Relay Rio
Vista, 880 reiser CUfton,
MUe relay Rio Vista; girls
varisty-440 relay Chilton,
800 relay Reicher, MUe
relay Reicher; boys jun-
ior varsity-440 relay
West, mile relay West;
and boys varsity-440 re-
lay West, mile relay
Clifton.
New records were set
in events in which new
lengths were established
last year (from yards to
meters). Billy Key let a
new record in the 100
meter dash in the boys'
varsity division, with
Sharon Culp doing like-
wise in the 110 meter
high hurdles in the var-
sity girls division.
Fourteen track foams
were entered in the boys’
varsity division of the
Cub Relays. CUfton
placed first with 129
points; Grandview was
second with 94 points.

with all Clifton athletes
winning points listed.
