This Week At C.H.S.
HOMECOMING QUEEN NOMINEES FOR 1980-are,
back row, 1. to r., Debra Finkbeiner, Sophomore; Glenda
Terrell, Freshman; Sherri Gustafson, Freshman; Dawn
Rachuig, Senior; and front row, I. to r., Jill Hoffman and
Lisa Hurst, Juniors; Stephanie Patterson, Sophomore; and
BiBI Eissler, Senior. The Queen will be announced during
halftime ceremonies at Friday night’s game between the
Cubs and Itasca, at Cub Stadium.

The Clifton Police Depart-
ment is currently attempting
to update their ‘‘Emergency
Phone Number List." This
list enables the Department
to contact responsible per-
sons in case of open doors,
vandalism, break-ins, etc.

Scheduled Thursday
With the holiday season fast
approaching, this should be
of great importance to busi-
nesses.
Fill out the list below and
either drop it in the mail or
bring it by the Police Depart-

Clifton’s third and final
bloodbank is scheduled for
Thursday, October 23, from
12 noon until 6 p.m. at the
Clifton Civic Center. Previ-
ous and potential donors are
asked to walk in and give a
unit toward the 166 needed
to reach the yearly goal of
360.
"Thanks for saving mv
life, blood donor!" is the
grateful response of count-
less recipiants according to
Rev. Ted Steenblock, chair-
man for this bloodbank.
Volunteers (nurses and
others) needed to operate the
bloodbank will be supplied
by Mrs. Phil (Peggy) Watts,
president of the Auxiliary of
Goodall-Witcher Hospital.

"Spirit Week” at Clifton
High School, with many
activities scheduled. Each
day of the week was specified
for a different type of dress
or costume, with Monday as
50’s Day; Tuesday, Back-
wards and Inside Out Day;
Wednesday, Kid Day; Thurs-
day, Cartoon Day; and Fri-
day, Rock and Country Day.
Other activities scheduled
included a Bonfire and Pep
Rally at 8 p.m. in Mr.
Tyssen’s field on the south
side of the High School.
Friday at 3:10 p.m., another
pep rally will be held at
Bettis Auditorium and citi-
zens are urged to attend and
help cheer the Cubs on.
CHS Band

Turkey Shoot

Deer hunters come sight
your guns in. The CHS Band
will be sponsoring a Turkey
Shoot November 8, two and
one half miles east of Clifton,
There will be contests in
deer rifles, 22 pistols, and
shot guns.
All proceeds will go to the
CHS Band.
The game between Itasca
and the Cubs begins at 8
p.m., Friday, at Cub Stad-
ium. The Homecoming
Queen will be announced
during halftime activities.
After the game there will be
a Pizza Supper and Sock Hop
at the High School. Also
after the game, the Class of
‘55 will be holding ah
informal get-together in the
Library at the High School.
On Saturday, the Class of
‘75 will be holding their
reunion in the American
Legion Hall at 8 p.m. To cap
off the week's activities, at 7
p.m. Saturday evening, the
formal Homecoming Dance,
will be held at the Clifton
Civic Center, with the Home-
coming Queen and her Court
to be presented wearing
formal dress.

activities will appear in a
future issue of the Record.

Ben D. Smith Appointed
Clifton City Councilman
Ben D. Smith was unanim-
ously appointed to fill the
unexpired term of Clifton
City Councilman O.R. Jen-
son during a regular session
of the Clifton City Council on
Tuesday, October 14, at 7
p.m. in the City Council
Chambers at City Hall.
Smith was the next highest
vote-getter in the most re-
cent City Council election

The kickoff meeting for the
Clifton Salvation Army Ser-
vice Unit fund drive was held
at First Baptist Church on
October 22 at 9:00 a.m., Rev.
Johnny Nutt, Service Unit
Committee Chairman and
Clifton Pastor have announc-
ed.
The Campaign Chairman
noted that the goal of $1200
will be used to pay for The
Salvation Army's services for
the less fortunate.
The committee, composed
of business and civic leaders,
carries out a year round
program of aid to people with
emergency needs. Acting on
behalf of The Salvation
Army, the committee ar-
ranges for food, lodging,
utilities or other basic ne-
cessities that a family or an
individual might require in a
crisis situation. The Service
Unit committee also acts as
liason with The Salvation
Army’s statewide programs.
Some of these services are:
summer outings for boys at
the Army’s Camp Hoblitzelle
near Dallas; help for paroled
prisoners; and emergency
relief in time of natural
disaster.

REPUBLICAN HEADQUARTERS OPENING—Formal opening of the
Bosque County Republican Headquarters located next to the Downtown
Restaurant In Clifton was held Saturday, October 18, at 12 noon. Area
Republicans on hand for the occasion included, standing, Mr. Jorgeson,
Fred Owen, Ann Erickson, Mary Erickson, Nancy Boren, Phil Vardlman,
Garlon Allen, Mrs. Jorgeson, Ruth Allen, Mrs. Joan Blum, Chuck Peel,
and seated, Mrs. Herbert Bell, Guest speaker.
The office will be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m., Monday
through Friday, and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.

votes. Following the ap-
pointment of Smith, Mayor
Charles M. Isenhower issued
him the oath of office.
City Secretary Daryl L.
Lusk reported on paving
which had been completed
and stated that according to
plans, 15th, 17th, and 19th
Street would be resurfaced
before cold weather set in.
Also on the schedule were
repairs fori sewer and water
line cuts across City streets.
Councilman Willie Wenzel
complained about the condi-
tions at railroad crossings in
Clifton. Mayor Isenhower
said he would report the
problem to railroad supervis-
ors in Temple.
Mayor Isenhower request-
ed that the next regular
meeting of the Council on
November II be changed
due to the Mayor and City
Secretary being out of town
on official business. Council-
men agreed to postpone the
meeting date until November
18.
Mayor Isenhower reported
that remodeling on the build-
ing occupied by Schafer Air
Craft at Clifton Airport
should be completed within
three weeks.
Burglars Take
$200 From
Bandroom
According to Clifton Police
Chief Rob Brennand, the
bandroom at the Clifton
Junior High School was
broken into sometime over
the weekend, and approxi-
mately $200 in cash was
tak,cn.
The thieves gained entry
into the building when they
jimmied the lock on the front
door. Nothing else has been
reported missing at this
time.
Chief Brennand states that
there arc no suspects in the
case at this time, but the
theft is under investigation.
He requests that anyone who
may have seen or heard any
suspicious activity in the
vicinity of the school over the
weekend, please report it to
the Police Station by calling
675-3688.
