20 years ago with Devoe and
never painted again till last year;

of the legislature during the
Campbell administration. It is
found that Governor Campbell’s
fondness for legislative activity
aa a fdrm of diversion has cost
the State approximately $275,-
000 The exact figures for the
recent session are not yet avail-
able, owing to the fact that a
number of heavy printing bills
haye not been received. The
above figure will be found essen-

Pistol Bullet Fatal.
Hillsboro. Tex. Oct. 1—'W. R.
The reason is, Devoe is all
paint and true paint; while the
common paints are part true and
part false. Don’t pay to monkey
with paint. And Devoe costs
less than ariy of ’em; not by the
gallon, of course, by the house,
and year. That’s how to reckon
it. Go by the name.

beats all the remedies I have ever
used. I contracted a bad cold and
was threatened with pneumo-

Robinson of Abbott, a former
Commissioner of this county, one
of the best-known farmers and a
prominent Mason, fatally shot
himself with a pistol in the sher-
iff’s office here at 12 o’clock Fri-
day. He walked into the office
and took a seat at the sheriff’s
desk. Shortly afterward Police-
man Frank Glasgow entered- the
office and laid his pistol on the
desk. Sheriff Cox, Deputy Sher-
iff Ford Marshall, Smith Marsh-
all and a detective from Tenn-
essee were in the office at the
time. After laying the pistol on
the desk, officer Glasgow picked
up a morning paper and com-
menced reading it, having taken
a seat across the desk from Mr.
Robinson. Within two or three
minutes after the pistol was
placed on the desk, those in the
room were startled by the re-
port of a pistol shot, and upon
looking saw Mr. Robinson fall
backward in his chair. An ex-
amination showed that the bullet
from the pistol entered about
the center of Mr. Robinson’s
breast and appearently pierced
bis heart He died instantly. The
remains will be buried at Abbott.
Mr. Robinson came to town
early Friday morning and talked
with friends concerning finan-
cial affairs. He was an enthusi-
astic Mason and a member of
Hella Temple. He served as
County Commissioner of the
county six years, beginning in

While Mr. Barbee was in the
store, two men in an automobile
came whizzing by, scaring the
horse, who reared up, breaking

Mr. Thompson, hearing the noise
run out and seized him. It was a
narrow escape for the young
lady, who was pretty badly
frightened. The men in the auto-

but did not slacken their speed.
Mr. Barbee jerked the harness
off his horse in a hurry, jumped
on the animal and took after the

after a run of several blocks and
they were only too glad to pay
